Ugh.

How WoTC Envisions Their New Subclasses:

"Druids who are members of the Circle of Wildfire
understand the necessity of destruction, such as
how a forest fire promotes growth. These druids
bond with a primal spirit that harbors
destructive tendencies, allowing the druids to
use their power to create controlled flames that
help flora and fauna reproduce and grow."

Well, who doesn't love fire?

Still reading through. Twilight Domain is fantastic. Perhaps too good. Great spells, heavy armor and martial weapons, and nice features. I feel it may be a bit above the other cleric domains, and is probably well above for a 1 level dip via multiclassing. But not enough to be broken, just very good.

Hey, question about their CD. It says the area is filled with Dim light. The way I'm reading that is thematically - it's dim light in there baring other magic, regardless if it's bright light or darkness elsewhere. In other words it brightens darkness and dims bright light. Which is very on-point for a Twilight domain. Is that your read as well?
Yep, that was how I understood it, and I think it’s super cool!

Still thinking about these, but...

1) It feels like the twilight domain is like what the grave domain was to the death domain to a so-far unreleased night domain for evil PC's. I seem to recall that the night is long, and full of terror...

2) I have been playing with an idea of how to make the celestial elves of Arborea a little different than normal elves, and one way was, if they were eladrin, that something elemental would happen either where they fey stepped from (Firre step) or where they teleported to before they materialized (branali step), so Fiery Teleportation makes me feel happy. WotC can make me feel more happy if they make a Circle of the Whirlwind Druid or Circle of the Whirlpool Druid that have a similar teleport gimmick.

3) It is probably a good thing Descent to Avernus came out before the Onomancy wizard, because access to devils+extract name+infernal calling seems like a problem for DM's.

4) Hey, these aren't psychic or weird like subclasses in the last couple of UA's....

Twilight cleric's Channel Divinity power is extremely powerful. For a fun minute (so, basically an entire encounter), everyone within 30 feet of you gains a d8 temp HP every round? WOW. That's HUGE. That stands people up from negative HP, doesn't it? But, the fact that every single round, every single PC is getting bonus HP is a big, big advantage. Plus, at the end, everyone is going to have a d8 temp HP to take into their next encounter.

Recharges on a short rest? That's a big deal.

The only one that was Psionic was the fun Aberrant Mind.

Okay so which MtG setting do these subclasses suggest?

I'm thinking Ixalan, maybe Dominaria, but others have greater expertize on this then I do. Long shot Alara.

It's pretty good, though a few points:

- Negative hit points do not exist in the game, bleeding out is off of the HP radar.

- From the PHB on page 198: "If you have 0 hit points, receiving temporary hit points doesn't restore you to consciousness or stabilize you. They can still absorb damage directed at you while you are in that state, but only true healing can save you."

- WotC expects combats to last about 2-3 rounds, so this is worth 2-3d8 temp HP for one battle. Helpful, but not broken.
