D&D General Things to Find in a Large River?

A good source of inspiration for you:

The Great Flanaess River Adventure. It's not specifically 5e, but, the ideas should work.

Cheers I might not have the time atm to read it. I have around 2 hours lol and have some other things to do.

Definitely interested in it though, even if its not that suitable for Nuria Natal (IDK Ill have to read it).

*Anti-stereotypically competent kobold river nomads.

*Rusalka in the reeds

*Aarakokra flavored as river birds instead of eagles

*The River King. A lesser god/archfey who is patron and king of the river, and who even the evil beings of the river fear enough to keep their deeds out of his sight

*A goddess of death who washes grave clothes on the river banks and calls to heroes. If a hero charms her, they might win her favor. If they insult her, their luck turns sour for a year and a day.

The aracocra reflavoring gave me an idea.

Refluff a nosoi (bird type of psychopomp) as a shoe bill. Absoluteky this. May i please PM you some related images @Zardnaar ?

Nice. I think an Egypt inspired setting should make great use of little gods, liberally spread around.

Also I wanna make a Thoth inspired Aarakokra Wizard now.
If it was 3.5 u could also go with domain wizard and give him the divination domain to reflect his shear devotion to knowledge. Also better than spec wiz because thoth is generally hungry for all knowledge and would probably not tolerate blinding himself to any corner of it.

Or wiz of sun and moon due to his meddling with the nature of night day and time, selecting just a couple time related spells to reflect the latter.

Sorry. Your idea excited me and i just started thinking outloud.

Hell yeah my dude, run with it!

A weirder way to go might be a houseruled INT based Monk with Mercer’s Cobalt Soul subclass.

I just wish there were a Sage class in dnd.

The planes (the river styx is a good example of a river that runs through planes)

Time travel

The doctor (i actually hate doctor who but i had to)

The third suggestion which is of course a joke has no bearing on the nature of the form of time travel associated with the time travel suggeation. I was thinking maybe different parts of the river offload to different time periods kinda like a fairy road with a trmporal quality but a river instead of a road.

have a fort by the river commanded by a fighter/madman named Kurtz who has used his high Charisma to suborn a tribe allied to the Pharaoh, and is using them to take on the pharaoh's enemies using methods that are... disturbing. The PCs have been ordered to terminate Kurtz with extreme prejudice...
