  • The investigator is a savvy, street-smart character who takes cases to uncover clues and solve mysteries. This class ties to parts of the game that aren’t covered in depth in the Core Rulebook, so the playtest will see if their approach to solving mysteries is satisfying, while keeping the rules for the game as a whole flexible.
  • The oracle commands divine powers by drawing from universal concepts, casting powerful revelation spells that take a toll on their body and manifest as a double-edged curse. We want to make sure the curse effects are fun and engaging without disrupting the balance of the class compared to other characters. For the playtest, we’ve selected only a subset of mysteries, but there will be more in the final version.
  • The swashbuckler is the flamboyant daredevil of the battlefield, tumbling through foes and entering a heightened state to deliver devastating finishing blows. We’ll be testing a system that encourages them to gain panache, a state of bombastic flair that lets them use more powerful abilities. The playtest version emphasizes new rules specific to the class so that we can playtest those thoroughly, but the final version might pick up some of the fighter’s weapon feats suited to dueling.
  • The witch serves a mysterious patron entity, casting spells and hexes learned through a powerful familiar. This is the most flexible spellcasting class we’ve introduced, since it allows you to build your own path by selecting not only feats, but also lessons from your patron. We want to make sure those options work well both narratively and mechanically across all three of the spellcasting traditions the witch can gain access to.
There's a survey which open on Tuesday, November 12th.

My guess is most people haven't even looked at PF2e......yet comment on it like they have.

this right here. They heard bad things about the play test and assume the play test is the final product as well. Someone said that they would never play it because of some rule in the play test that was cut in an early update. They kept insisting it was a rule even with various people owning the book said “no it’s not”. I can’t remember which one, affinity or something like that?
I almost didn’t buy it because it looked like so similar to 4e in presentation but as I read it I find it’s about as far from 4e as 3e was. I really, really like it. Maybe more than 5e.

I kinda wish these weren't a thing. Like if they just allowed you to make a bard into an investigator with feat selections, or a oracle (cleric), swashbuckler (fighter), etc.

Yes, it’s a serviceable game. Although, in all fairness, the difference between the Playtest and final product was slight, something a casual gamer might never notice. The math was calibrated, the rough edges smoothed, and a few holes filled. While I don’t doubt some gamers made their minds up without so much as single die roll of play, the number of play testers and more current players who’ve now at least given it a test drive is not trivial. I’m not certain a conspiracy is afoot. Opinions then and now are genuinely mixed. It is a very good system that does not appeal to many PF1 fans for very reason those gamers so loved the 3x engine - the update is balanced and is not a min-max affair.

I know the core of the classes should come before the multiclassing feats but I'm really interested to know how the Oracle will work with other focus casting. if I'm reading it correctly, if you choose to multiclass into another class and get a focus spell from it somehow, you still have to use the increase of curse instead of focus pool/points.

I'm curious how they'll handle multiclassing into Oracle, such as whether it will include the revelation/curse system or not. Would it then cause you to lose focus pool you already had?

I think if I were making a swashbuckler I would do something like this:

female ancient elf sailor gymnast swashbuckler, chaotic neutral
str 16 dex 18 con 10 int 12 wis 10 cha 12
feats
ancestral - monk dedication, nimble elf (elven instincts, elf step)
background - underwater marauder
class - tumble behind (finishing follow-through, flamboyant athlete, attack of opportunity, vivacious bravado, derring-do, perfect finisher, mobile finisher, deadly grace, felicitous riposte, panache paragon)
skill - (titan wrestler)
skills
trained - acrobatics, athletics, crafting, deception, diplomacy, intimidation, performance, sailing lore, society, stealth, survival
