Commando is so absurd and so 80s. What's not to like?

So many good Arnie action movies in the 80s. Commando is still fun these days.

A lot of the ones that spring to mind are comedies. I have a dry sense of humor most days, so zany or dumb comedies don't typically work for me.

You Don't Mess With The Zohan: I thought this movie was just dumb and full of stereotypes when I first saw it. But upon repeated viewings, it has grown on me a lot. I even find myself quoting it.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: My sister was a huge fan of this when we growing up, and I hated it. Even as a teenager I thought it was dumb. I watched it later in life, and I have found it charming and quirky.

And the big one...

Meet the Spartans: I actually walked out of this one in the theater. I thought I lost brain cells for having watched it. A year or so later I watched it, and I couldn't stop laughing. It's still beyond dumb, but I laugh at it. Could just be that I lost enough brain cells for it to be funny...

I think the closest I can come is Blade Runner. First time I saw it, I didn't like the voice-over (I was too young to appreciate it. and the video-system had some problems as well when I saw it the first time at a gaming convention). I then realized that a voice-over is one of the hallmarks of a noir-film, which this is.

So I will comfortably say that the only proper version of the film is the one WITH the voice-over, and WITHOUT the unicorn dream sequence. And yes, that means Deckard should NOT be a replicant.

I've never seen the original US theatrical cut. I'm assuming there's a Super Special Edition out there now that has it now, but for awhile it was more or less impossible to find. I went looking for it some time in the 00's, and found that I could only get DVDs of the directors cut version. There literally was no way to get a copy of the original except by hunting down an old VHS tape, and it that case there was no widescreen version available.

Star Trek Beyond grew on me the second watching. The first time I felt rather disappointed. The second time slightly less disappointed.

It is still the BEST film SCORE ever! IMO.

Too bad there has never been as good a Conan film/show to come close to this one.

It's good, one of the best, but I'd put another as better.

Star Wars or the Empire Strikes back seems to be the greater score to me (I'd say Empire is the one that is actually the best score, but most people would simply call all of it simply Star Wars music or the Star Wars Score).

I have to say "Duel of the Fates" that was introduced in The Phantom Menace was one of the best fight-scene scores I've ever heard.
