D&D 5E What previous-edition D&D settings, races, classes, items, weapons and so on do you think we'll never see in 5E?

I do think the Kobold Press Gnoll is pretty good, if less interesting than the 4e dnd take, for what it’s worth @Charlaquin .
That's the one in their Midgard setting, right? It is pretty decent. Not quite what I want out of a gnoll race, but pretty good. Honestly though, if I find myself needing a PC gnoll race, I'll probably just brew up my own based on the 4e gnoll.

I wish there was hope for a compiled book of all the 4e Nentir Vale lore. I mean, you could fill a tome with it, no problem.
There's a fan-made Nentir Vale Gazetteer out there on the internet that's pretty thorough.

Yeah, it desperately needs a reformat, though. Is forgotten about it tho. Good catch.[/QUOTE]

Thayan Slaver (prestige class) - We know it's supposed to be the bad guy and you kill him (after interrogation of course), but the social media flamethrowers do not know that and will pre-emptively launch alpha strikes.

Weapons of Legend - cool concept but overpowered everything else about your character.
Legendary Weapons - on WotC's production schedule, they do not have space for two pages of historical fluff about a souped-up sword.

Legend
Worlds: there are many, many settings in the history of D&D. Many have been forgotten, and others WotC has lost the rights to. Birthright had an opportunity during the popularity of Game of Thrones, but I suspect that the moment for that has passed. It's my understanding that both Dragonlance and Mystra have had their original authors offer to create supplements, but WotC declined both. This makes these settings unlikely to ever return. Some cultural settings (most of which have been absorbed by the Realms) are unlikely to return, simply due to the potential backlash.

Classs/Races: WHOOO... when I said their are a lot of settings in the history of D&D, the number of classes and races are exponentially greater! I'd say the most popular ones that won't make a return would be the warlord and the Oriental Adventures classes (although Samurai did make it as sub-class).

Weapons: I'll agree the Fullblade probably won't make a return, as won't the mecurial weapons. The spiked chain has returned as a monster weapon, but isn't nearly as busted as it was in 3E. I doubt exotic weapons will return as a concept either.

Victoria Rules
Settings that 5e won't officially get:

Mystara-Known World-Hollow World; Al-Qadim; Nentir Vale; Birthright; Dragonlance. For M-KW-HW and DL there's the question of whether they own all the associated IP; Al-Qadim might raise cultural-appropriation questions these days; and Birthright almost needs its own separate rule-set. As for Nentir Vale, they could do this one but I'm still betting they won't.

I somehow think they will eventually release 5e versions of Spelljammer, Planescape, Dark Sun, etc.

Races and Classes:

I'm tempted to say for both of these that if it isn't already out there, don't plan on seeing it in its original form. Some old classes might at some point be made sort-of possible by the right combination of subclasses and feats maybe, but that's it. For sure we'll never see race-as-class a la 0e.

Items that 5e won't officially get, at least in anything close to their original form:

Sword of Life Stealing (it drained levels on a hit; so to bring this in means bringing back level drain)
various Librams, Tomes, Books etc. that bestowed levels to or drained levels from the reader (ditto)

Sacrosanct

Legend
Many of the classes from back in dragon won’t show up, like the witch, jester, etc. even adaptations for some of them won’t show up.
I also think many settings, like the darkest Africa that appeared in the past, won’t show up, which means myths, weapons, and monsters won’t appear

Why would you think they wouldn't own all the Dragonlance and Mystara IP?

And rejecting offers to license out settings would raise the probability of seeing them, surely. If they never wanted to use them again, they'd license them out for some quick cash, like they did in 3rd Edition for Dragonlance and Ravenloft.
