I think we will see 4 hardcovers, possibly ties to Fiscal Quarter (Stewart said the Gem Dragons would be available"really early in 2020").

  • One monster book, having some level of Dragons
  • Adventure book
  • Wildcard: maybe a setting, maybe XGtE2
  • Reprint compilation?

I actually don't think that Desert of Desolation is happening.... I remember there being a reveal that there is a product being worked on with Deborah Ann Woll, Marisha Ray and DMsGuild writers making an anthology of original adventures. I doubt we are getting a product like that and another remake in the same year. It's possible that this anthology is also horror-themed, aligning with Chris Perkins hint.

I think the big original adventure will be starting in Lantan, and then drift into Spelljammer concepts, probably having some themes about mindflayers. There have been several hints, and this is the only concept I can think of that ties all of them together.

I think there's a setting book coming, though I don't know what it is. I'm thinking it's either a collection of different Magic the Gathering worlds, or it's Planescape. Haven't decided which yet.

Also may be a "Xanathar's 2," but I'm the least confident in that.

A Setting does seem probable to me, but Xanathar's Guide 2: Eldritch Bugaloo's stock rose with me now that we have 16 Subclasses up for consideration. Crawford did confirm in the Beyond videos that the whole recent batch is related, at any rate.

Welch's book with new adventures is an interesting question mark.

I admit as possible a book about horror theme modules as a teaser for a future Ravenloft. But the metaplot will be stopped for more years until a project in the main media, cinema or teleserie in streaming services.

Nothing about new classes but they psionic mystic, or another psionic manifester, or maybe in the UA articles.

If the cartoon serie of critical role is a success, then WotC could change its plans about projects in the main media.

It is! It's one of the few more definitive statements on future products I've seen so I think it happening next year is a near-certainty. But still have no idea whether it will have a theme or something. It being entirely set in areas of Ravenloft, or generally being horror themed, is a distinct possibility.

D&D doesn't really have a metaplot. Sure some of the modules connect, but I'd barely call that a plot and it seems isolated to FR.

Salthorae

Imperial Mountain Dew Taster
Autumn: Epic high level campaign starting in Lantan and ending in Sigil.

That is... oddly specific? :)

I'm thinking:
  • some sort of Volo's/Mordenkainen's monster book related to dragons
  • a Xanathar's style book related to player options and variants (a la all the recent UA)
  • 2 adventures
  • Miscellany and Sundry cool things like GF9 maps I can't afford to buy but really want.

FR hasn't got a metaplot as others, but does a timeline, with events as the sundering or the spellplague, or the reincarnation of Drizzt Do'urden friends.

Yes, maybe a book as Draconomicon is possible. If this is true, please, I don't want boring drakes, dinosaurs with or without wings. I want true dragons, I mean dragons with age categories, even I would rather the minidragon from Dr Magazine for the 2nd Ed, or the dragon spider from Dragonlance sourcebook Wild Elves. If the update isn't published, then Paizo will publish the ersatz version as the imperial or the outer dragons.

Given that what she described is unlike anything they have done in 5E so far, it could go a lot of different ways.

The Lantan thing comes from literally years of hints from Crawford that Lantan will feature majorly in an upcoming Storyline, including future-proofed connections in Dragon Heist and Tomb of Annihilation. There are additional hints of something Planar and/or Spelljammer-y, probably tentacley, and just maybe Modrons adjacent.

I really hope your wrong as I have no interest in some random horror adventure Anthology.

Honestly I think that Adventure Anthology is going to be based in Exandia and be a critical role tie in thing, and as such like Aquistions Inc's book, it won't count as taking up a "slot", just as the AI book did not take up a slot.
