D&D General How To Reconcile the Settings

True, but the Infernal Tieflings have their own interesting elements. Like that they breed true, which has potentially terrifying implications for humanity and other races.
I thought about that a lot. And I was almost wondering if that was a new species emerging if I wanted to get Darwinian. And that was a cool concept that intrigued me. Asmodeus creating a race in his own image. And it also made most tieflings on the realms the same. Less variety. They are still out there but not nearly as many of them.

No, while they aren't FR in origin, they first appeared in a Planescape product, they do not predate the Forgotten Realms.

But while Tieflings, Genasi, and Aasimar started out in Planescape, they were orphaned when WotC stopped publishing Planescape for decades, leaving FR to adopt them. I think there is now more FR lore on Planetouched then Planescape now, because FR kept getting support, Planescape did not.
Welp. Just looked it up and you're right. You learn something every day. Aparently individuals who would fit the concept existed but there wasnt actually. Word to differentiate them from cambions at the time. So that is actually when "tiefling" was first mentioned. Huh.

That is impossible that Planesvcape Tieflings are cooler and more diverse, because the Forgotten Realms contains both Planescape and 4e Infernal style Tieflings, as well as related races, like Fey'ri, and more. Some FR Tieflings are related to Gods like Set and Besheba, others are more tradition Tieflings. They are also more cultyral diverse.
Fey'ri are technically cambions. Any mention of them as a tiefling, print or by mouth, is a mistake. They are literal half fiends like the draegloth. Therefore cambions.

Also i absolutely love them and ive played a few. Even made a variant one time that worked with a grey elf mother instead of a sun elf one. This involved a rape though. If you know much lore about sun and grey elves youll understand this was done fore reasons of realism. It just fits better. Wasnt for angsty reasons. Grey elven society is just a lot different from sun elven society.

If I remember correctly. The way tieflings were originally presented their fiendish heritage was back so many generations that they didn’t even know what type of fiend it came from. I may be wrong on that. But I think most did not know what species of fiend they came from.

Tieflings have a TINY amount of outsider blood. Many many generations back. In otherwords they should be nearly purely mortal humanoid.

Cambions are half. Fey'ri are half. Draegloths are half. Fey'ri and draegloths are cambions.

Sometimes fey'ri were described in the books as a racially specific tiefling. That is incorrect. The books had mistakes. Dont remember which books make this mistake but ive come acrossed it.
