D&D 5E Countering Rest Spells (Tiny Hut, Rope Trick, et al)

And the game doesn’t break or even come close to it if they can get their short rest stuff back fairly easily by spending a long rest resource.
Heck, depending on a given table's issues, enabling short rests can help. Short rests don't just restore resources, like long rests, they're also the only way to expend a certain resource: HD.
Tapping HD means you can face more encounters so it's more likely you'll reach the magic day length at which the game is theoretically meant to balance.

Basically if a 2nd level spell breaks your game, maybe it isn’t the spell that’s the issue.
Oh, sure, the game has to be so readily-breakable, in the first place, and the spell is part of the game.
So it's one of those "which came first, the sick chicken or the bird flu" imponderables.

But, if a single 2nd level spell (or more likely, 3rd level ritual) is all you need to change or ban to fix it, well, that's easier than redesigning all the classes & monsters to balance regardless of how much the party rests.

Dynamic worlds are important in general. Static worlds and ‘mobs’ run into all sorts of problems.
There's static & dynamic, and there's genre & realism, and there's game & narrative. A realistic narrative could include a static challenge: a golem guarding a magical vault left by a long-vanished race isn't going to change tactics, wander off, or get reinforcements. A challenging game scenario could be dynamic, becoming more difficult as you grind against it and timers roll over, spawning nor or more powerful enemies.

I can't help but notice that the tiny hut is fine if you aren't a naughty word gm crowd has recently switched to focusing on the second level non-ritual short rest rope trick spell as if finally accepting that the third level ritually castable tiny hut is over the top & problematic enough to hope they can avoid needing to admit that there is merit to the arguments leveled against their defense of the spell.

Nah. See my last post.

This comment was very uncalled for.

Some of us have been saying Rope Trick is the worst offender since page 1.

What part of I have been talking about my own experiences have you failed to understand? Do I have to spell it out to you in every single time I post, rather than the 80% or so that I have been?

For someone that has such problems with absolutes, I was just pointing out that you talk in absolutes yourself. The spell isn't "broken" for most people. If it's broken for you perhaps it's something you could fix if you were willing to listen to how other people approach it. Or not.

This thread is up to page 8 now and you've not even attempted to address criticisms about why your solutions are lacking, unrealistic, or shortsighted & instead blame the gm.

I gave advice. Take it or leave it. When you last "countered" my arguments you were insulting, suddenly the party in the hut doubled in size, the only way to block exits was a wall of force, etc.
