Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

Lisa and Erik are good people. But they've never once, ever, publicly said the business was doing anything other than amazing. Even in times when it was not. It's their job to keep the ship heading in the right direction, everyone on course, and everyone confident of the future. They do their job well in that respect.
Understandable. But in that case one cant use Lisa's words that everything is great as proof. It is her job to keep it goingbin that manner. Piazo isnt a publically traded company so alot of infornation doesnt have to be released like in microsoft or hasbros case.

I just dont see her quote as proof as all. Thats my point

I completely agree. This is very generic to me. How is it better? How is it going well? In the past, the company has not been shy about crowing when it was on top. I don't take her new post as any indication that things are good, bad, or neutral. Unless there is a statement with numbers or something to back up claims, statements like this provide no value for what we're discussing here.

I was on amazon this morning looking some D&D books, and I noticed something a bit odd. The PF2e core rulebook is #4376 on books and #1 in pathfinder game; howver the bestiary is #14,306 in books and #5 in pathfinder game! Why is the bestiary so low?

For comparison, the 5e MM is #3 behind the PHB and DMG in "Dungeons and Dragons"

It's gone lower since you looked. Both the PF2e core and the Bestiary are about at the levels they were holding relatively stable at before a holiday bump. However, they could break new lows soon (keep an eye on whether the core enters the 6000s).

WRT the Bestiary, it means that there is not stellar interest in running games. If there was something pushing interest, like the Geek and Sundry play through, the recent high levels would be sustained or there would be a smaller drop. I wish I knew what the ranking was before 2e was announced to really compare what we are seeing now with historic levels.

Before 2e was announced I think I remember it being low.

What was it selling like at the beginning or at is peak is probably more relevant, but that would be good to know too.

Obviously we don’t have data to compare to when P1 came out. Anecdotally, I’ll say that my group even though we weren’t completely thrilled with 4E took two years to switch over to P1. The situation is much different now as many people are perfectly OK with 5E. I think there will be steady growth if we compared year on year for P1 in the future as certain groups look for an RPG option with a bit more complexity to it. All that being said, I highly doubt P2 will ever reach the lofty heights of P1; no matter how much I like it.

Edit: Notably, my FLGS will not be carrying Pathfinder products which basically means that my store and potential games will be relegated to 5E only as people tend to only play what the store stocks. Granted, after playing P2 more, I'm not sure it is a good fit for me anyway.

As @gss000 suggests, it probably has to do with DMs. The ratios might make sense if most PF2 players buy the core book, but only DMs are buying the Bestiary. The 5E monster books, even Kobold Press stuff, are more fit for entertainment reading, from what I've seen, too.

It's a different type of data point. The gaming landscape was much different when 1e was released and at its peak. In the early days of this new edition with a strong 5th ed and a bigger rpg pie, comparing to the start of 1e or the peak is a bit apples to oranges.

If I was working for Paizo, I want to know how 2e is doing in the current landscape, and the best is data point in the short term is the pre-announcement when there wouldn't be the drop caused by knowing an edition is ending. I want to know is 2e reversing the course of the end days of 1e? How much?

Longer term, you could compare to peaks, but even then you have to consider the environment the games live in.
