I thought about suggesting this in the earlier thread - but I wasn't sure how well Anime suggestions would have gone over but...

Arturia Pendragon/Saber from Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero
and
Astolfo/Rider of Black from Fate/Apocrypha.

(Bonus with that last one because they're Paladins in both senses of the word).

Inigo Montoya is the best representation of a Vengeance Paladin there is.

He has an oath of vengeance which is character defining.
He has a strong sense of honour and fairness.
He uses Divine Sense to find the Pit of Despair
He uses Lay on Hands to heal his dagger wound.
He utters his vow of enmity/denunciation to frighten Count Rugen.

You ever seen the 1997 'Ivanhoe the King's Knight' cartoon? The guy is an Oath of the Crown thru and thru, spending all his effort trying to gather the resource to pay King Richard's ransom. In every episode there's a point where Ivanhoe is about to lose a fight or something and then he invokes the name of King Richard ("FOR KING RICHARD!") and in a hokey slow-mo sequence he deals a decisive blow, usually disarming his opponent. Also, it's vaguely implied King Richard is aware of this every time it happens?

If that's not a smite...

I wobbled back and forth between Lancelot and Percival in Excalibur. But I ended up going with Lancelot because he fails. He loses his paladinhood and experiences the fall from grace, then dies seeking redemption. Being a paladin isn't always easy. Certainly back in the day, it seemed like DMs were encouraged to jump on the slightest excuse to strip them of their power.

I remember rewatching the 2004 King Arthur and realizing how joyless and leaden it is, particularly Clive Owen's performance. It's got some good parts, but in the quest to make a "realistic" tale (something it still couldn't even manage), it strips out all the pageantry, wonder, and brightness of Mallory's tales.

I originally had him as a swashbuckler rogue, but your argument has persuaded me

You know, I know I included modern versions as well, but I just wouldn't feel right with Captain America, a modern representation, being the winner for a D&D paladin. It would just feel...off

Seriously, though, he's obviously an Oath of Flag-Allegiance Paladin.

I'm sorry, that still wasn't serious. It's a process. I'll keep trying.

Anyway, I did vote Percival/Galahad, Lancelot, & oddly Solomon Kane, since they're the ones I recognized who actually displayed even a hint of divine power.

How about Cahir from the Witcher (TV version)? No one said Paladins had to be on the side of the heroes.
