Like Sacrocanct says it will be 10 but it won't be a march, the inclusion of goblins as a playable race in the PHB is such an inflammatory issue that it will likely incite a cough assault until the matter is resolved adequately.

Query: are Orcs reprinted with their VGtM stats or with their E:RFtLW stats or new stats altogether?

(Eberron hardcover's take on Orcs were strictly superior to Volo's, including dropping the Ability Score penalty and expanding the skill choice offered).

Considering I don't own the books where a number of said races came from, that's actually pretty handy for me when I nab this book.

This is a good reminder for everyone that the vast majority of those that play D&D are in this boat

That's not strictly true. When a new Grognard enters the order, one Grognard is chosen to become The Great Neckbeard, who must fight the existing Great Neckbeard in ritual combat. The loser is cast out and becomes a simple curmudgeon, losing their Grognard powers.

Considering I don't own the books where a number of said races came from, that's actually pretty handy for me when I nab this book.

Sadly that's not the case for all subclasses like in the gods' section they point you to book and page where the mentioned domains are contained, for example, the arcana domain and the order domains in which they point you to two different books.

I've been thinking for awhile that they should do an expanded edition of the PHB, not 5.5e exactly, but more add a few more core races to it, the the subclasses from XGTE, and a few more things.

But I already have the PHB and XGTE!

I've said it before, but I'll say it again; it does not make good business sense for Wizard's to make a 5.5 PHB, or a new PHB that is the same as the current one but adds a bunch of stuff (and by 5.5 PHB I don't mean a book like Xanathar's).

It is both way easier to reprint these races in new books, and way more profitable.

Not only that, i think there would be backlash to a "GOTY Edition" PHB, especially by recent purchasers.
