D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide errata coming

Yes, I think you're right. What irritates me is why are they waiting until after the print book has been released to release the official errata. And my guess there would be they decided to hold off the release until they had some certain amount of changes. I think it is poor optics having a change inaccessible in DDB when it is in print.

Based on Crawford's twitter feed, they try to time them to try to be simultaneous. But obviously it doesn't always work out perfectly. I think we'll see the errata document soon. When you look back at it, you'll think, 'Oh, those came out about the same time'. Or maybe you won't. I probably won't ever think about the timing again.

And I don't think they wait until they have enough changes necessarily. I think they wait until they think they've got them all for a given book. (Though obviously they fail, and I'm just guessing)

From reading your posts in this topic, it sounds like your copy of xge is still shrinkwrapped in a sealed notarized protective shell stored in a glass case? If that's the case then soon you will be able to be proud of a mint first edition and have the option of doing the same with a second edition if you think the investment potential of such a move is worthwhile.
It isn't? It is one of the books I read more often. I keep it in a shelf by the bed. I'm just a bit... obsessive on keeping my things in good state and I don't really like losing things to neglect, misuse or they being mistreated. Not because I want to sell them, but because I like them and have attachment to them . (And well there's some stuff into this that I'm not going to disclose in a public forum, it isn't anything bad, just personal)

Did something happen to the other 191 pages? Useless? Really?
Because it is the only piece of errata to pay mind to obviously, instead of one of many changes to actual rules that are so many that apparently haven't been compiled yet?

There is one place where we can examine the performance of D&D books specifically, which is Amazon. And what we see from Amazon is spectacular sales, with the PHB regularly breaking into the top 100 and other D&D books also performing very well.

It's my guess that WoTC is primarily interested in capturing new users, and the fact that the PHB remains the top selling D&D book suggests that strategy is working. The goal of new books is not just to sell a copy of the new book, but also a PHB to someone who now has a story or setting that interests them and gets them to try the game. Which is good business, since the profit margin on PHBs is much higher than a new book.

There may be something going on in the real world that is delaying certain aspects of release schedules in ways that aren't easy to assess -- like a global pandemic.

When I put this forth, you ridiculed the post and responded condescendingly like it could not have been right.

I guess winning an argument on the internet was more important than, well, integrity.

You mean condescendingly like telling people their feelings aren't real and entirely made up for agenda?
