Hi folks! I'm afraid we have some bad news.

TRAILseeker has had a great run for nearly four years, producing articles and adventures for Pathfinder 1E and then 2E.

Unfortunately, it has never gained real traction, and every month costs us more than we make from it. We kept it going for as long as we could (subsidized by our other publications), but the shortfall is mounting up to the point where we can't afford to continue it.

We're so sorry. We love producing this little magazine. We wish it weren't so.

We have a couple of months' worth of articles left to publish, which we will continue to do, but after that you can expect to see the magazine wind down this summer.

Thank you all so much for your support, whether you are a patron, a writer, a layout designer, an editor, or an artist. It took a small village of people to produce this publication, with wonderful freelancers from around the world.

I want to clarify that Pathfinder 2E has nothing to do with this decision. The Patreon has been running for a few years, and 2E didn't cause any noticeable change (up or down) in patrons.

I'm curious what you base this on. The only metric I've seen is sales rank at amazon, which seems to be declining, but I'd love more data points.

TO be honest, all RPGs have been declining in amazon rankings with the up tick in home education books.

Just a local anecdote, really, but I think that, as people get the chance to go through it (it's a monster of a book and a monster of a rules system), it's just natural that it raises more interest; it's a solid game, after all.

More of my players are asking to try it on our next campaign, and I've seen some DMs in my online circle describe the same situation.

It's a sign of 5e fatigue also? I think so, but I don't want to derail the thread with that discussion. That said, I expect PF2 to keep expanding its player base in the years to follow, I just don't think that will be enough to threaten 5e's dominance.

Maybe, one way of publishing this type of content is kickstarting seasons, and then using patron (per article, not month) to keep up the season. It would be a mix of classic and crowdfunding investments!

One more thing: I am longing for the day I will find a Patron exclusively focused in bigger adventures. Splat PDF's are cool, one shots are fine sometimes, but fidelity comes with stories!

I do want to run Zeitgeist! But I'm kinda a mad scientist of RPG, so I want it to be using 13th Age and located in Eberron (adapting the genre, not cloning).

So I think that probably the best edition of Zeitgeist for me is the 4th ed. I bought the pdfs until Digging for lies via Drivethru, but now I'm thinking about the massive bundles. Problem is if it would be wrong printing it here in Brazil (shipping is definitely prohibited, minimum wage dropped to USD 0.85/hour this year and Covid just started messing around).

But this could be an option! Creating, let's say, 20 PDFs via a crowdfunding project, then use the patreon to improve or even get some more PDFs.

Pathfinder 2E wise, I mean.
Or! Or! Or! 13th Age wise! This one I could be part of! hahah
