The Kickstarter is being run by Ulisses Spiele, and includes three core books -- the Universe Book (setting), Character Book (rules and character creation), and Gamemaster Book (example adventure, guidelines, etc). There are also additional books and accessories, like tokens, GM screen, and so on.

Fading Suns was first published in 1996 by Holistic Design. It's set in a medieval-esque space empire, long after the heights of human civilization. It has some of the feel of Dune, WH40K, and so on.

It's not a cheap Kickstarter -- the lowest pledge level is €50 for the PDF version, or €100 for the print version (all three books). But you get a lot of content for you money!

Thanks. You are being helpful Raddu, so the following is not directed at you...

All those links are exactly what I am talking about!

Why do I have to download something from Drivethrurpg to know what the system is like?

Why do I have to troll through all their video media links?

Is a two paragraph rundown of the actual game system on the kickstarter page too much to ask?

Evidently, yes. Yes, it is too much to ask.

And here's me thinking that the whole point of a kickstarter page was to sell people on your game...
Calm down, dude. If they haven't engaged your interest enough, that's fair enough - don't buy the thing. But it's nothing to get angry about!

Not angry. Just a little incredulous. (further proof that quickly written forum posts are bad at conveying inflection and tone.)

I don't get angry about RPG's - life's too short.

And it's not about engaging interest. They did that the second I looked at this thread and clicked the kickstarter link to see what Fading Suns was all about.

It's a simple lack of basic, and relevant information about the game. That I find rather puzzling.

In USpiels defense, this is not the first kickstarter I have seen that omits basic info about the game system.
(hence the pet-peeve addendum in my first post)

Just wondering out loud why such a basic thing seem to be omitted.

Anyone have an Idea?

I had the same gut reaction. A simple breakdown/overview of the mechanics would have been good in the Kickstarter. Having to go Googling, downloading etc was a turn off. Just offering feedback to the point that Jaeger wasn't unique in how they felt.

I had the same feeling... quite surprised that they didn't outline their system on the page. I went to the drivethru link, but lost interest.

Yup! Spot on.
