Kinder reader Inflection wanted
PHB errata fixed several feats but most notably:
Sentinel can be used at reach
Polearm master can be used with spears
I think most GMs were doing these anyway but its nice to have it in writing.

Sure they can, they just did!

"That just happened!"

Well yes I guess that is undeniably true, but I mean in a rational and ethical sense that one should adopt a consistent position on these things, and not swoop in and actually-nerf a particular spell. There's so much stuff that, in it's own way, is broken, that they leave for us as DM to fix, that it just seems really weird.

If this, like some of the recent stuff in UA (some of which is already so ingrained in my group, it would cause problems if they didn't put it in), is a prelude to a 5.5E, well, fine, I guess. Hopefully that's all it is.

It is not. I just think you are taking it more seriously than they do

A 5.5 would be an edition that changes the basic function of several elements of 5E.

They like how 5E works.

There will be no 5E, and given the amount of stuff people want that has yet to be released in 5E, I do not expect 6E to come in the next 5 years.

Yeah but the Healing Spirit thing is a gigantic change which turns a spell from over-powered to "kinda dodgy". That's a classic 4E-style nerf.

This Errata does match how Crawford said the Spell was expected to work on Twitter at the time, though: he never saw the "overpowered" aspect as anything more than a corner case, so they patched the corner.

My bad - can you tell I never played a Cleric in 5E? Well, until last Friday. I still think it's an overnerf given the size of disparity and that they went far beyond what Crawford (who posts more conservative takes on stuff than literally any other official WotC dude) suggested. It's not like it's a low-effort spell in combat.

It's still 4-6 dice of healing for a second level spell. That's a good rate. It's roughly on par now with the custom spell rules. Much closer anyhow.

While out of combat healing doesn't need a nerf, it doesn't need a buff, either, and 10d6 healing for all party members for a 2nd level spell is plainly egregious.
