Yes unfortunately I think youre right that if Ford either opts out or is no longer available then theyll recast the character and the IP will continue. i hope they dont and Ford said when he dies so does the character, but I doubt he has any say in the matter.

That's pretty much how I approach movies in development. There are so many reasons why a movie production can go sideways and never make it to theatres.
It's also a good approach to RPG releases and George R.R. Martin novels . . . . .

It's one of those teams that could go either way. None of the writers have "WOW AMAZING" stuff under their belts, but it's not "OH GOD NOOOOOO!" either.
The directors haven't directed much and not anything that was "well-directed" (nor notably badly directed), nor anything serious or epic (small-scale comedies only), but they're not totally new to this. I kind of suspect they might be going for a more comedic direction due to that. Hmmmmmmmmm. I say. Hmmmmmm. They kinda tried that last time and it really didn't work out.
The leaks sounded awful so hopefully they were total nonsense.

They right up say they are looking for an A list Actor to lead this thing. So if they are going to do that, I'd rather they pick palatible then someone I don't like.
