D&D General Should Bearded Female Dwarves be the Default?

Well, that's kind of creepy. Dragonboobs for dragonmilk, because reptiles give ... eh.

Platypi don't have Mamary glands as we know them, the mother sort of sweats milk on their tummy.

Interestingly Mammary glands are modified apocrine sweat glands that in early Synapsids (including the sail finned Pelycosaurs) were used to secrete a nutrient rich oily substance which was used to keep eggs moist. Absorption of nutrients in the ‘milk’ also meant that eggs could have smaller yolks which helped survival of young.

Anyway no reason why Dragonborn couldnt have co-evolved similar aporcrine glands ...

I feel that we've now overthought Dragonboobs in this thread, while simultaneously WotC underthought it before making the 4E art orders....

This is an amusing thing to ponder, but in the end, if a player came to me and said that either they wanted their dwarf to have a beard or not have a beard, I would always follow their request regardless of race, gender or pretty much anything else.

I played an extremely old elf with a beard in 2e - after all, Tolkein described Cirdan as having a beard due to his old age. I got some good-natured flack for it, but everyone let it be in the end. Same goes for bearded female dwarves - if the player wants to, then yes, if the player doesn't, then no.

Good thing Perkins and I can always agree to disagree. I.E. take the good lore bits of 4E and keep them in my 5E games.

Well then let us agree then: Female Dwarves can have beards, 4E ornate hair, and Mullets.

And I've looked up images of women rocking the mullet, so it's a dwarven option now!

Oh, they have mammary glands. They don't have breasts, per se. But the glands are there - they just release milk out of pores, rather than nipples.
