If WotC were to give another setting the Curse of Strahd treatment -- no main campaign setting, just an adventure in that setting with just enough information to run that adventure -- which setting(s) would you prefer?

And in the comments, answer this: did you not pick a setting you like because you would rather see something else for it?

Note that I included Eberron mostly because I want a big adventure for it, and included "non Sword Coast FR" because there's a lot of places not yet explored.

I was going to say Pelinore just to be difficult, but in reality there are two, non-listed campaign settings I would love to see.

1. Mahasarpa. A more south-Asian themed campaign setting; too often, we default to the "Japanese" or, maybe, "Japanese + Chinese" when there is a rich, varied, and colorful tradition.

2. Lankhmar. I know it can't happen for IP reasons, but the Lankhmar/D&D bond is as old as they get (Lieber/Gygax, Deities and Demigods, Lankhmar setting in 1e) and it is a brilliant swords and sorcery setting for D&D; really, a lot of Greyhawk remains a pale imitation of the best of Lankhmar.

I saw this one listed in Wikipedia from whence I pulled names I could not recall, but I don't think I have ever encountered it before. Where/when is it from? Is it a Magic setting?

I left this one off the list because it isn't a WotC owned property. Same with Conan. Full disclosure: I'd love to see both.

It was 3e era, short little optional Oriental Adventures add-on. IIRC, the official content was only about 10 pages or so, but it was the only time I can recall that they tried to flesh out the idea of playing in something that had flavors of South Asia (specifically the Indian subcontinent) instead of the usual Ninja / Kung Fu "fusion" they serve up as a "pan-Asian" campaign setting.

It was more useful to get you started on your own homebrew than as a real campaign setting, TBH. I'd love to see them revisit it!

Lankhmar is totally worth cheating for! :)

Dragonlance - it was made to tell the one big story, so do that story. Preferably with Elmore '80s big hair art at least in an appendix. :)

I think Dragonlance is one that WoTC could do better than the original modules, which suffer from the mid-80s verboseness in cramped clunky layout.

I voted Al-Qadim.

Rationale: We know 5e loves to publish books that squish a couple different things together, but one thing we haven't had is a primary adventure that also has some setting and crunch included. So put out a 128 page adventure for Al-Qadim, and add in 40-50 pages of setting gazetter with 30 pages of crunch (sha'ir, some new subclasses).

Mahasarpa - the exoticism of Asian jungle themes and Hindu-influenced cultures

Birthright - building in political intrigue, social ‘events’ and unique Monster antagonist
