D&D 5E Is Adventures in Middle Earth worth trying to get?

There's enough stealable stuff that it's worth checking out. But I don't think you need to buy the whole series; just the player's handbook and loremaster's guide should be enough.
Note; if you want all the cultures and stuff, get the adventurers companion or whatever it’s called. It’s a collection of most/all of the player options released.
 




I think you can find copies out there still - check online game stores and Bookfinder, which includes a lot of books not on Amazon. I saw a couple new copies of the Loremaster's Guide for $40.
 

I do like that. I've been thinking if there is a way to convert the Journey rules and place them into DND 5E.

I used them for a journey between counties in my 5e Ustalav (Paizo not-Ravenloft gothic horror realm) game and my players liked it. I even had one player who had playtested Decipher's Middle Earth rules and was happy it did not come down to "Are you Aragorn? you rock, are you anybody else? Sit down and watch Aragorn handle it." The feel of drawing the attention of evil or not comes across well in a Ravenloft type horror setting or doing so well you get hope bonuses from your journey for heroic travellers.

The rules and system are a little more scattered than I would like, but I am glad I got them.
 

I use a version of the journey rules for long distance space travel in my Space Opera game, using custom ship roles and basically given Luck Points rather than TOR’s extra rank dice for successful preliminary checks.
