Yes, well, folks who don't regularly experience discrimination themselves are usually not terribly skilled at noting it when it happens near them, but not at them.

Consider this a useful qualification for the role at WotC - the ability to notice such things, even when they aren't against their own demographic.
I agree. It helps to be experienced in this field and at recognizing these themes to do this job. Being a BIPOC could help with the experience part of the job.

They are hopefully looking for a person who understands, really and thoroughly understands, issues of folks who are disadvantaged and discriminated against in our culture. While it is possible for that to be a white dude, the odds are against a person who is not generally subject to discrimination to as fully understand as someone who does experience it personally.

They're looking for someone who is good at employee relations, recruiting from a more diverse pool of candidates both within and outside the company, training in DEI issues, and being a strategic business partner. Factors including race and gender are not bona fide occupational qualifications for this position. I know your line of thought is coming from a good place, but that kind of thinking is what leads employers to unintentional discriminatory hiring practices.

So you opine the inclusivity manager is a kind of "head hunter" who recruits candidates for WotC positions?

Not quite, and I don't have to opine because it's right there in the job description.

I don't know if the DEI manager will do any recruiting, but they're certainly going to work with the recruiters to help them expand their pool of candidates.

@MGibster

"amplify under-represented perspectives"

Seems to me to involve supplying and testing the content for upcoming D&D products.

By extension, flagging any oversights in previous products.

Can be, theoretically. Is likely to be? I don't think so.

There are a lot of white Jewish people who have experienced discrimination/racism. I know, because I've experienced it. I don't think I've experienced as much as black or hispanic people, but I do know how it feels.

Not to make light of it at all, but watching the haters in this country, who support the President, twist all around to not hate his daughter and son-in-law, one Jewish by birth and one by conversion, can be really crazy.

You need to put those quoted words in their proper context because it doesn't mean what you think it means.

It's quite clear to me that this is about recruiting people rather than taking a direct hand it producing game material. That you read it differently just boggles my mind.
