The Forge Adept Artificer from Exploring Eberron, a few people have said, is also another fantastic Gish done right take.
Yes, the sun soul monk got a bit of a reworking. Can’t remember if any of the others did as well.Did the reprints from SCAG in XGE change at all? My recollection is that there were no changes.
Battle Smith is a more than decent Gish either. It's clear that in 5e terms, the true Arcane Gish is the Artificer (martial builds).
Not that the Battlesmith and hexblade both key off their spellcasting stat reducing MAD?
They failed a bit with gish but the Paladin and some cleric builds work.
It's the clerics you don't suspect though such as nature and arcana.
What's wrong with keying off spellcasting class for a Gish? MAD reduction is important. If you want to be good with strength skills, then invest in STR too. The point here is that your magic is what's making the attacks hit hard, not your core body Strength.
That's what they need to do to make it viable.
The other thing IMHO us why be a bad fighter when you can be a different subclass?
You can make it work with decent dice rolls but then things like Sorcerers make good Gish. Mountain Dwarf divine Soul or fire Sorcerer with green flame blade.
Valor Bard, War Cleric a few others a big meh. Bladesinger works with the right spells.
Another possibility that fits Occam's Razor, is with 4 published settings, outside the Forgotten Realms world,, why wouldn't you take cool content from the low selling SCAG to the most likely, well selling Tasha's?
There was never any reason not to reprint classes from SCAG.Another possibility that fits Occam's Razor, is with 4 published settings, outside the Forgotten Realms world,, why wouldn't you take cool content from the low selling SCAG to the most likely, well selling Tasha's?
It's very "techno" which for some may not be what they want.
