WHAT WONDERFUL WITCHERY IS THIS?

A magical mixture of rules options for the world's greatest roleplaying game.

The wizard Tasha, whose great works include the spell Tasha’s hideous laughter, has gathered bits and bobs of precious lore during her illustrious career as an adventurer. Her enemies wouldn’t want these treasured secrets scattered across the multiverse, so in defiance, she has collected and codified these tidbits for the enrichment of all.
  • EXPANDED SUBCLASSES. Try out subclass options for every Dungeons & Dragons class, including the artificer, which appears in the book.
  • MORE CHARACTER OPTIONS. Delve into a collection of new class features and new feats, and customize your character’s origin using straightforward rules for modifying a character’s racial traits.
  • INTRODUCING GROUP PATRONS. Whether you're part of the same criminal syndicate or working for an ancient dragon, each group patron option comes with its own perks and types of assignments.
  • SPELLS, ARTIFACTS & MAGIC TATTOOS. Discover more spells, as well as magic tattoos, artifacts, and other magic items for your campaign.
  • EXPANDED RULES OPTIONS. Try out rules for sidekicks, supernatural environments, natural hazards, and parleying with monsters, and gain guidance on running a session zero.
  • A PLETHORA OF PUZZLES. Ready to be dropped into any D&D adventure, puzzles of varied difficulty await your adventurers, complete with traps and guidance on using the puzzles in a campaign.
Full of expanded content for players and Dungeon Masters alike, this book is a great addition to the Player's Handbook and the Dungeon Master’s Guide. Baked in you'll find more rule options for all the character classes in the Player's Handbook, including more subclass options. Thrown in for good measure is the artificer class, a master of magical invention. And this witch's brew wouldn't be complete without a dash of added artifacts, spellbook options, spells for both player characters and monsters, magical tattoos, group patrons, and other tasty goodies.

the SCAG cantrips are a good step in the right direction, but they still gave the Bladesinger Extra Attacks for no reason.
Yeah I mean, I think of EA as a third cantrip, for them. Sometimes the best way to go is just to attack twice, but most of the time I’d rather use one of my actual cantrips.

But I get that a lot of people really hate that they get extra attack at 6.

I guess it makes sense, especially if you wish to attack multiple targets... Though I'd rather see a cantrip that lets them do additional weapon attack on the same progression as Eldritch Blast.

And they don't get it at 5? lame! Maybe that'll change in this reprint?

Yeah I could see that... especially against a single target that isn’t likely to move.
I would have loved a “use int for melee attacks when you make 2 attacks” rider

I also would love more of the 4e sword mage spells. Things like throw your sword and it explodes... or teleport and make an attack. Or even the agisis

A melee version of Eldritch Blast would be good, but I think that we all have to just accept that wotc does not want a cantrip to be a necessary part of a class or subclass.

And if we did have an Eldritch Strike cantrip, I'd want it to be what defines Pact of The Blade, and explicitly be affected by all invocations that affect Eldritch Blast.

I really need to get back to work on my Swordmage. Basically a Monk chassis with Wizard-style learning of Esoteric Techniques, which varied from incredible movement, to defensive stances, to things like throwing your weapon and dealing damage to everyone in a 10ft sphere within range, or a line attack like lightning bolt, but you teleport to the end space of the line at the end of the attack, etc.

That would basically neuter the Gish-ness of the Bladesinger. You need to be able to attack with your sword AND magic at the same time, not cast spells with one hand and swing a sword with the other, to be a true Gish.
I would like Greenflame blade and booming blade take up your bonus action and buff all attacks instead of scaling with level. That would make it more fitting for a fighter mage allowing to play well with extra attack and haste but not as well with rogue and sneak attack.
