Not to beat this dead horse too much, but maybe a little, easily cleared confusion, is preferable to deadnaming a trans woman against her wishes? Possibly?

Understand that I've nothing but respect for Jennell. So, I'm not trying to slight her over this. And the likelihood that she reads this is fairly slim. There are plenty of people out there that might only know her as her deadname. So yes, I'm opting for avoiding confusion, and perhaps even educating some people out there who might not be aware of her transition. It seems like the lesser of two evils to me.

While you're gnashing your teeth at me, perhaps you'd like to send a tersely worded email to Wikipedia for them to do the same?

I understand the logic, and I know that your heart is in the right place. But please trust me, as a trans woman and member of many trans communities, that there is absolutely a greater evil here, and it is unquestionably deliberately deadnaming a trans person. I don't think I've made it clear how offensive and transphobic that actually is, but it's really, really bad. Comparable to a slur, really.

I understand that the harm is probably minimal in this current context, but I don't want anyone walking away from this thread from any illusions as to what is or is not in the best interest of trans people in general and trans creators in specific.

Again, I don't blame any cis person for thinking this is the safest or most reasonable course of action.

But. It. Is. Not.

Edit: To avoid triple-posting, here's a pretty good article on the subject: Stuck on how to refer to trans people in the past? The answer is actually really simple.
Was something about my post inappropriate? Just asking for clarification. I couldn't tell if you were quoting me as a bad example. Thanks for all your insights. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jennell Jacquays and want to get it right. :)

To the contrary, yours was a good example. Sorry for the confusion 😅

Kinda have to in this instance otherwise you don't make the connection.

Is there no equivilent to Kate ABC (nee Kate 123).

Dungeon was a bit rough at first few issues but I converted a few adventures from issue 7/8 ish through to 20.

The late 1E and early 2E Dungeon along with Paizo era was when Dungeon was at it's best.

No, you really don't.

No. This is not just about a simple name change. A deadname is specifically and personally traumatizing for most trans folx. It is a reminder of the identity forced upon you at birth, an identity that often never felt right and is associated with years of pain and struggle.

This is a far sight different changing last names due to marriage which is (presumably, and at least from personal experience) far less tortuous and traumatizing.

Up to you but in this case you need to specify that connection otherwise no one's gonna know who you're talking about.
