D&D 5E As a Player, why do you play in games you haven't bought into?

Unfortunately for me, I mostly DM. His campaign was the first campaign in a LONG time that I got to play in. Unfortunately, life happened and I had to cut back on my gaming

Yes, I do. I was riffing on the idea with possible examples in fantasy D&D.

In order to work, the restriction has to be both minor and irrelevant. Hence, no clerics of a rather obscure halfling god.
