D&D 5E D&D Sage Advice 2.6 Update

WotC has released the latest update to its Sage Advice document. "This update aligns these books with content appearing in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, arriving November 17, 2020 in North America and December 1 in EU and APAC."

It also includes errata for Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, and Eberron: Rising from the Last War. "Some of the changes in these errata files bring elements of those two books in line with content in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything".

Everyone else will post about the mechanics stuff, so let's talk lore

Wall of the Faithless retcon?
The Afterlife (p. 20). In the second paragraph, the last sentence has been deleted.
The truly false and faithless are mortared into the Wall of the Faithless, the great barrier that bounds the City of the Dead, where their souls slowly dissolve and begin to become part of the stuff of the Wall itself.
So that's a major lore change right?

ERFTLW
Eberron ones look good, although they missed a reference in chapter 2 where they say
The Blood of Vol is a grim faith, founded by Erandis d’Vol, an elf from Aerenal.
This was sorta-kinda the old lore, but the Lady Illmarrow entry later makes it much clearer. Keith, on the discord, said the sentence was wrong in three ways
She didn't found it; she was never called "d'Vol"; and calling Erandis "an elf from Aerenal" is a vast oversimplification.

I'm still waiting for the following to be addressed:

The Ghosts of Saltmarsh errata has changed the sea lion from a CR ½ beast to a CR 5 monstrosity. However, the descriptive text still seems to suggest it should just be an ordinary beast as per the real world sea lion rather than the fantasy version.

The Tomb of Annihilation errata document does not include all the errata that was noted on D&D Beyond: Official Wizards of the Coast errata - Rules & Game Mechanics - Dungeons & Dragons Discussion - D&D Beyond Forums - D&D Beyond

There are also some outstanding issues from the core books:
  • PHB: The errata for the bard's Magical Secrets points to page 50. In my book, this text is on page 54.
  • PHB: The original errata for the find steed spell has disappeared. The original errata was: "The second sentence now reads as follows: “Appearing in an unoccupied space within range, the steed takes on a form that you choose: a warhorse, a pony, a camel, an elk, or a mastiff.”
  • PHB: The errata for sleet storm makes it so it only affects creatures concentrating on spells. What about creatures that are concentrating on spell-like effects (such as an imp or a duergar concentrating on its invisibility action)?
  • MM: On page 49, under "Undead Nature", it states that a demilich "always has the maximum number of hit points for its Hit Dice, instead of average hit points." However, errata more recently issued changes its number of hit dice without changing the listed hit points, so they go from being the maximum to the average.
  • MM: Ghouls don't have an Undead Nature line. What happens to a ghoul that doesn't get enough food, air or sleep? Does it die again
  • MM: The Thug statblock could do with some errata, as its Mace attack reads "one creature" rather than "one target".

Not really. By not mentioning it this just means that in absence of new lore the old lore is still valid. So all it does is preventing someone from stumbling upon it without actually deeper diving into FR afterlive lore

I'm probably going to ignore the Bladesong errata but keep the extra attack errata.

Enough people seem to loath the wall that they probably just caved to the complainers and removed it. Since it's now removed from the current edition it may as well not exist.

You could call it an elegant cop out. They didn't "remove remove" it, but as you say it's effectively gone due to only the most enthusiastic lore nerds ever finding it mentioned now that it moved from "front page" to being buried deep in the lore

Yeah, I doubt they'll get around to that.

One thing I've never heard mentioned, is the reason for the change. In the adventure where it appears, the sea lion is a locathah's mount, and it is currently being kept in extended imprisonment in an underwater cell. Jumped right out to me as a problem the first time I read through the adventure. I was glad to see them fix it (though I already had the monstrosity version from TFYP to use instead).

EDIT: I just noticed that the art inside the front cover shows a locathah with an animal version of a sea lion. Apparently the misinterpretation went pretty deep when the book was being put together.

I bought it as soon as it was out, so I'm set. I also went and made a copy of the current bladesinger on dndbeyond, though I don't think it would take much to edit the new version back to the original.
For me, I want the non errata versions of Booming and Green-Flame Blade.
