The beginning of TCOE was practically built on the idea of this thread.
Not really. The premise of the thread was a member of the old guard saying they didn't understand why people play Tortles and Tabaxi. The beginning of TCoE has ways to customize your character so it doesn't have a race, or to customize your race to fit your character. Those are two very different topics.

Not I meant people not understanding why people like ertain races and TCOE allowing people to reshape or recreate races.

It goes to the 100 pages of people aruing why X race is in a DM's setting and saying players have the right for a good justification from said DM.

While dragging an extra 600 pounds?
Is it 600 pounds though? Centaurs aren't the size of a horse, they're smaller. Additionally their internal body structure is different. Certainly lighter as you don't need a collosal intestine system to turn grass into energy, and that's before you ask 'hang on what's the heart/lung situation we got going on here.

We can't compare just horse+human to establish what a centaur could or could not do. They're unrealistic beings by nature, so applying small bits of realism to them is just going to result in the whole realism house collapsing on 'em.

They don't, though. While the DM in most cases should explain, it's not a right or entitlement that the players have.

400-600 pounds. The smaller centaurs are a base 600 pounds + 2d12 x 1d10 additional pounds. So 602-840 pounds.

It's iffy.

The players do have the right to an explanation of the theme, tone, genre, and playstyle ofthe DM's setting.

A player could argue a justification of race ban is a clarification of one of those.
A DM could argue that they were very clear and can point to the DMG as a description of what they are running and no additional justification is needed.

Stay classy dude.
Need I remind you that, before they were instructed to leave the thread, Pming said exactly this sort of thing? That non-humans were subjected to open and overt racist behavior until the player ceased to be a "problem"? Your sarcasm is a bit specious when we've had this exact attitude openly and earnestly expressed in this very thread.

That I agree with.

I think this falls into the tone/playstyle, etc. As I said, though, in most cases the DM should explain, so we mostly agree here. I just don't view it as a player right.
