The playtest is live now, and runs until February 5th.

Gunslinger -- " This is a brand-new version of an old favorite: the gunslinger has been rebuilt from the ground up with new subclasses and abilities unique to Pathfinder Second Edition, including a sniper subclass specializing in devastating opening attacks. Bonus points for those of you who might not be as enthused about having firearms in your home games: we’re playtesting the gunslinger with built-in options for replacing firearms with crossbows. Now, your snipers and drifters can find their place in any campaign! And no, playing a character with this option won’t require a feat or archetype!"

Inventor -- "Master gadgeteers, inventors can interact with mechanical devices in the heat of combat to influence the direction of the fight, leverage their powerful innovations to deal out devastating attacks, or transform themselves into unbreakable armored bulwarks. Other inventors might prefer to instead rely on their trusty clockwork companions to hold the line while these PCs use their skills and cunning to heal or support the party."

This just makes me extremely sad and frustrated. The Inventor sounds so cool to add to my games, but I only enjoy and play PF1e and would love to have a PF1e version of this in my games. But since we've been abandoned, we'll never enjoy this class for the game we spent money and were loyal to Paizo with for.

Can't there be an exception for Paizo and for them to release a PF1e Inventor class too? How am I ever supposed to get something like this for MY games? I'm just crap out of luck huh?

The terrible consequences of new editions. :cautious:

That seems a touch dramatic.

I haven't experienced any terrible consequences of the new edition. It is actually quite liberating. I don't need to worry about any future Paizo releases (this still seems a bit odd to say, but it seems to be true thus far,) and can go on playing my stacks of 1e material.

I find Paizo's products seem to have changed in tone such as that I have little interest in playing them.

How do 2e players find the published adventures CF the first edition APs? They certainly don't grab my attention the same way as some of the earlier campaigns.

You could always backport it yourself, or if that is too much, wait for someone else to do it. It is bound to happen sooner or later.

Anyway, annoyingly I am due to start a PF2 mini-campaign soon...probably just as the playtest ends.

You're acting like Paizo abandon a 3 year old game. PF1e went on for around 10 years having over 100 books made for it not including homebrew. 1e wasn't abandoned it for 2e. The team at Paizo worked on it until it they decided to move on, not abandon, to 2e.

If the Paizo team doesn't want to release the inventor for 1e that's their choice but that doesn't mean you're crap out of luck. Homebrew it or wait for dedicated 1e players to port it over.

Really? What company is continuing the PF1 lineup? Because I have yet to find any. If I were rich, I'd definitely start up my own in a heartbeat and take over PF1 where Paizo left off.

Of course someone is doing it - Purple Duck Games, with their Porphyra RPG:

You're welcome. :)
There is also Legendary Games PF1.5, "Corefinder." If you go through the thread you will find some posts from Legendary Games with some updates on the progress.

It would be the height of irony if one of these companies continuing PF 1e became big enough to challenge D&D or even PF.

Exceedingly unlikely. Paizo got into the position they did in part because they were already well-known to the D&D populace because they were the biggest supplier of adventures for D&D 3.0, and were already a large company (by RPG business standards) when Pathfinder came out.

That is why it would not just be ironic, but the "height of irony." ;)
