Tried several times keeps only showing the pdf only.
I'm more interested in the printed copy.

I think a number of players wanted to continue the adventures of that unnamed fighter. It's a testament to how evocative that short walkthrough is, how good it is at explaining the game and hooking people on it. As does the long-lasting infamy of Bargle.

The fridging of Aleena is part of an unfortunate trope, but it shows new players that this game isn't all victory and celebration. There is danger, too.

I had a player who wanted to be the fighter from the Red Box who watches Aleena die.

Between this and reading Dyson Logos’ blog tonight, am having SEVERE desire to play BECMI again, and introduce my new role players to the joys of reverse AC and being able to really concentrate on playing your character without all the fiddly bits

Oh man, I know the feeling.
"Are we going to play Dungeons & Dragons this time? Or are we just going to play Weird Chess for four hours again?"

BECMI doesn't require reverse AC.

I've had more luck with other systems when I use ascending AC recruiting modern players.
