I am honestly flabbergasted at being accused of racism in this thread. I took a little break from ENWorld because I felt like discussions were getting heated easily, but I figured it might be me and maybe I should step away.

Now I am sure it is an inherent change in this community, and I don't think I want to be part of that anymore.

Have you tried the blocking option yet on here? I haven't, but have been tempted. And probably would if someone went after me personally (even though the mods usually step in pretty quickly when called).

I'm inclined to just use an array that represents the appropriate base power level of the PCs I am aiming for, and not bother with bonuses at all. Something like 16, 15, 13, 13, 11, 9

I think a simple array especially makes sense post-Tashas.

Yeah, the only time I'm doing a kitchen sink game is if I expect to have a large player pool and multiple PCs per player. Then having all the options makes sense to lower the chance of overlap when putting together the groups for each session. And even then I'm likely to curtail at least some options to support the theme.

Nobody said you were wrong for not wanting to play in one. Your reply, though, was fairly full of paranoia about the DM just because he said only human for PCs. You made it sound like it would make you worry that he was killing fantasy with his bare hands and then eating its flesh. There's nothing wrong with not liking only human(or any other only X race) parties, but when the reasons given are over the top like that, it's going to invite pushback.

Just curious: if you were offered a seat at a D&D campaign table, but there was a "humans only" rule for PCs, would you play. Assume all other things being equal -- it's a GM you know and trust, no other major limitations are presented, and it is going to otherwise be a "typical" D&D campaign of the sort you prefer.

I don't know. I mean, I'd just kinda...wonder why?

I mean if my group wants to do it, fine, but part of the fun of dnd for me is in being a different creature, not just from a different culture.

That's not what I'm getting from it. Most of the discussion regarding those don't want to play human parties, is because they are saying that it would make them distrust the DM or that it's against the base assumptions of the game(which it absolutely is not), or because they inappropriately brought up racism.

If you don't like it, you don't like it and that's fine. It's the reasons given for not liking it that have been argued.

Wait. Stop right there. I said both ways. It's not a question of who is right or wrong, but of the tenor of the thread in general. And I'm not going to let anyone bend it to be about who is right or wrong to score points.

I'm not even innocent of it, but a huge number of posts here are: 'here's my answer, and here's an indictment of people who say yes/no.'
