As revealed by Nerd Immersion by deciphering computer code from D&D Beyond!

Fizban the Fabulous is, of course, the accident-prone, befuddled alter-ego of Dragonlance’s god of good dragons, Paladine, the platinum dragon (Dragonlance’s version of Bahamut).

Which makes my guess earlier this year spot on!

UPDATE -- the book now has a description!

Catastrophic Dragons split from the more common Chromatic Dragon and Metallic Dragon families during the Dawn War. The most common story recounts that, after Io was slain by Erek-Hus, a significant band of dragons was so shaken up by the death of their divine creator, and so contemptuous of both Tiamat and Bahamut as lackluster pretenders to his throne, that they decided that the Primordials were going to win the Dawn War. So, they approached different Primordials and offered them service - not being idiots, the lords of the Elemental Chaos eagerly embraced them, transforming them into entities that were not quite dragon, not quite elemental, but something greater than both.
Hmm. Interesting concept. How are they different mechanically?

Dragons don't do anything together. Dragons don't like other dragons. So If you see a group of dragons, it's a bad time to be alive.

Isn't that dependent on the specific variety? Seems like the more Lawful varieties like Gold, Silver, Bronze, Blue, and Green would be more inclined to team up.

EDIT: And yes, I too would love to see the catastrophic dragons make an appearance here. I have an idea for a campaign where they are the only kinds of dragons.
Yeah similarly my campaign world has been without chromatic and metallic dragons for millennia and I’ve had a niche carved out for gem dragons for ages, just waiting for some decent official stats to drop in. I’m curious to see what other sort of dracoform critters we’ll get in this one because I can definitely make use of them.

I bet all the Mythic Legendary Dragons from AFR get used in this book, with the MtG art.

Also I expect Templates like Steel Dragon and Shadow Dragon in this book.

And lastly Treasury of Dragons siggests this book will have magic items, such as from Dragon Hoards as well. We could also have some more surprise player content they didn't UA for some reason.

Also look for the Draconic Pantheon to be discussed like VGtM did for Yuan Ti, Orcs, Goblins, Kobolds, and Giants and nd MToF did for Demihuman races. Not just Tiamat and Bahumut, but just about every Dragon God they can dig up, past and present including obscure D&D Magazine Dragon Gods and related Dragon like Gods perhaps. They may even introduce new ones, a God of Dragon Turtles would be cool.

I don't think this will touch on the new Drow.

Yeah but they hated it, it had to be an emergency, and they would try to the other dragon do most of the work.

D&D dragons are selfish, good or evil.
