How do you layer your pizza?

Dough - sauce - mushrooms - cheese - other toppings.

As the fat is released from the cheese and meat, it is absorbed by the mushrooms, softening them; the mushrooms also present a barrier to prevent the oils overwhelming the crust.

I used to run a brick oven pizzeria many years ago. We cooked our pizzas at 700F-900F for 3-4 minutes.

Then mayo on that. Bbq sauce base.

It generally depends on the toppings, although I usually go for half the toppings, half the cheese, then the other half of the toppings and the rest of the cheese.

Meatlovers pizza is a thing here. Usually dough, ketchup 6-8 meats and swirl of bbq sauce on top.

You can pick but the base sauce is often some sort of tomato paste. Probably isn't ketchup.

Tomato sauce is more popular here than ketch. Similar but more sweet.

I do not know what apocalyptic tragedy has befallen the pizzerias of New Zealand, but based on your examples, I am assuming it is the taste-based version of the Apple-TV series, See ... "Here's the pitch- Jason Momoa stars in a show where everyone has lost their sense of taste, and now they are making potato/mayo/BBQ hybrids. The humanity!"

Ahem, but there is something very, very wrong when you think that you might need to replace the marinara with ketchup because the marinara lacks the .... complexity ... of the ketchup.

Somewhere, a billion Italian grandmothers turned over in their graves at once.

Domino’s New Zealand Now Offering ‘Hawaiian Spaghetti Pizza’

Once upon a time when options were limited and things like Pizza Hut and Dominos were not around a home made pizza involved spaghetti and pineapple plus whatever else.

Pizza for the most part was something you saw in American TV shows.

I haven't had one in years. But that was the option as a kid in 1980's.

There were around 3 Italians in the country back then mostly war brides.
