Games Workshop Gives Staff £5,000 Bonus

Nottingham-based Games Workshop is one such company, which says that sales were up 30% year (with Warhammer 40K and the new Cursed City games particularly strong), with pre-tax profits being up 70%.

GW has 2,600 employees, including shop workers, model makers, designers, and support staff, and each of those employees is getting a bonus of £5,000. This comes from a £2.6M profit share (with an extra £10.6M added on top). Senior managers are getting a share of an additional £1.1M pot.

While GW has had to close several of its 523 stores, there are plans to open more in the US, Japan, and China.

Additionally, Games Workshop has given back the financial support it received from the government.

The Guardian has more on the topic.

Hasbro has reported that WotC's revenue from D&D has increased even dramatically over the past year, with the company's net revenues and operating profit increasing by over 100% in Q2 2021.

What’s “pot?”
And while $5k is great, 1.1Mil is a big jump. The head honchos could have had half a Mil and given the staff more of a bump.
Either way, kudos to GW
It's 5K pounds sterling, about $7K if you want it in US dollars.

Which is taken from a "pot" of £13.2 million. Adding in half the manager pot of £1.1 million would have added a hair more than 4%. Sure, I'd rather get £5208 instead of £5000, but that's not a huge difference.

That's awesome! Boom times for a company should be boom times for the actual people who make up the company.

Also @MGibster, that paint job is gorgeous. I only paint minis for D&D, and most of what I own is just a ton of stuff I got from backing a Bones Kickstarter, and I'm embarrassed by what I do compared to that beauty!

Don't be embarrassed. I promise you your painted minis look way better than your unpainted ones!

Lovely how they cite Cursed City as a sell-out, considering they under-printed it...
Well it still sold out! And for all intents and purposes it appears as though Cursed City has ceased to exist. I thought about buying it, I saw it for sale for $200, but decided to skip it. And when I changed my mind the game wasn't available in stores and GW dropped any mention of it from their website. It's bizarre.

You mean this one that has it's own website?
