No, it doesn't say that.

It says that Druids won't wear metal armour.

You are free to answer the 'why' questions yourself.
Rather.

It is listed under the proficiency format that the proficiency wont apply to metal armors.

On an other page, the Druid proficiency is explicitly with "(non-metal) armor" only.

The people who are misinterpreting the texts to mean all kinds of extremist positions, are wrong.

The situation is simply that the Druid class will not grant proficiency with metal armors.

Man, this guy took a hard bond. If he takes so much as a short rest, he's breaking a rule and cheating!

"Artemis is more than a criminal assassin-he is an antihero, driven by his rivalry with Drizzt. His bond might be phrased as "I will not rest until I have proved myself better than Drizzt Do' Urden."

Here's another rule. Commoners can't risk their lives for Folk Heroes. If a DM has a commoner risk his life, he's clearly breaking a rule.

"They will shield you from the law or anyone else searching for you, though they will not risk their lives for you."

Noble Knights can't ever had a retainer who goes into a dangerous area for the knight they are loyal to. Rules are rules.

"Your retainers are commoners who can perform mundane tasks for you , but they do not fight for you, will not follow you into obviously dangerous areas(such as dungeons) , and will leave if they are frequently endangered or abused."

Btw the whole “wizards can’t cast healing spells” is BS and not a rule either. My warlock took the feat to give me a 1st level spell and 2 cantrips and got healing that she then used slots to uo cast. Any wizard can do that.
If we take my Druid cleric paliden and swap out wizard for Druid I don’t lose the ability to wear armor and I don’t lose the ability to heal.

So... how many of you think this "It is a rule - it is not a rule" argument will ever resolve?

Or now is it simply an endurance contest? The last one to say "It IS!" or "It IS NOT!" wins?

I doubt any answer I give after more than 1,400 posts is going to add anything new.

Real answer? If a druid freely dons metal armor in my campaign they would no longer be a druid.

It's never happened in all my years of playing, it's never even been questioned.
Please show me where that's actually written. Because I've looked; there's nothing that says that anything can cause them to lose their druidic powers or abilities. Because that's a house rule

And if they are no longer a druid, what are they then?

And do you honestly think that just because it's never happened in your games that it's never happened in anyone's games?

That's only because nobody has made healing spells for wizards. There's literally nothing in the rules stopping you from being a wizard and researching a healing spell. Unless you count that the rules for researching spells in general are pretty bad.

The Druid class will not grant proficiency with metal armor.

Mechanically speaking, except for special materials, the only armors available to a standard Druid are: cloth, leather, and hide.

What Sage Advice explains is why the Druid lacks proficiency with metal armors. The answer is they chose not to familiarize themseves with its use.

Ok, but. It still fails to answer certain questions. Why do Druids use metal weapons then? Why do Druids use metal spells? What happens if a unique character learns to become accustomed and proficient by some other means? After all, the Druid class does use metal.

The Druid class lacks proficiency. It is that simple.
I have asked you in the past what happens if you start out with proficiency in metal armors and then become a druid. You didn't answer before.

Tbh I would be happy with the other side admiting that my side is acting in good faith and read the same thing and came to a different conclusion without implying we are lying

So back when this actually mattered (cause we were trying to play) one of the arguments was weather studied leather had to have metal in it…
