Read Realmspace years ago, forgot most of it but remember it being a good read. In the 2E Lands of Intrigue boxed set theres a paragraph in the beginning of the Tethyr book which is a letter from Gamalon Idygor and places the Rock of Bral in the Tears of Selune in Realmspace.Realmspace is really cool, you have a planet of black Egyptian Ptah (God of Wildspace) worshipping Halflings (alot of folks don't know FR has black Halfling race, probably because as a Spelljammer cross over most aren't on Toril, they are on Anadar, but some might be on Toril as well), you have a Gas Giant with floating islands in it, Elminister owns a retreat there), Garden a giant plant planet with a Wa Colony on it, FRs Sun is inhabited, Glyth has drinkable Jelly Oceans, and a ton of other cool stuff.
Im not one to use WotC adventures. I buy them and occasionally take pieces and drop them in our campaign but I prefer setting books. So Id like to see a SJ setting with enough of a page count to adapt the setting properly to 5E. If theyre selling $150 slipcase gift sets with 3 books, then I think people will pay that for a 3 book campaign setting book, a SJ PHB, DMG, MM. I know I would. Same thing goes for Darksun. These one and done 1 book campaign settings theyve put out last few years dont do much for me.would you want this to be an adventure? Or a setting book?
Slightly off-topic, but who came up with the concept of giant hamster as a space-fantasy themed creature in the first?
Did someone’s real hamster escaped during a game, started to chew one the player’s miniature while they weren’t looking and went « ahhh! Giant hamster! » or something?
granted, D&D has plenty of giant « something », but mostly because they would look menacing at 10-foot tall. Silly has been in the game pretty much from inception too but still; giant hamster appears like an oddly specific choice of critter…
Oh yeah, forgot about the hippo WWI soldiers.Spelljammer was quite a bit tongue-in-cheek in overall theme, honestly it's hard to be serious when you have D&D Pirates in Spaaaaaace...
Some things were fairly serious, in particular the neogi (really great adversaries), but looking at the Giff and Giant Space Hamster, I think you can see that they did not take themselves too seriously.
"Giant space hamsters did not evolve naturally, as one might guess. They were created by a gnome research committee attempting to develop a relatively passive creature large enough to wind up the giant rubber bands attached to the huge running wheels inside gnomish spelljammer craft."Slightly off-topic, but who came up with the concept of giant hamster as a space-fantasy themed creature in the first place?

So in conclusion- the gnomes did it!
They were made by gnomes to run on the giant hamster wheels that power gnome ships.Slightly off-topic, but who came up with the concept of giant hamster as a space-fantasy themed creature in the first place?

[edit] oh and yeah, to me this spells « spelljammer confirmed! »
The beholder behind him could be Large Luigi.RealmSpace has a lot of other planets as well, including Glyth which is ruled by illithids. But a cover that has both Boo (allegedly) a miniature-giant-space-hamster, and what is likely a Beholder behind him? Coincidence.... I think not!
