I think that might be what they are laying down, yeah.

It would explain the lack of a monster stat block if Saridor is dead in Sacred Space.
It's in the poem at the start of the book - when the First World was attacked, Bahamut was defeated and Tiamat imprisoned by the other gods and their forces. Sardior hides in the center of creation, and when the First World is shattered, he apparently is shattered with it, as his consciousness is "scattered in minuscule fragments". So he's alive, but whether that shattering means he's so scattered his consciousness is effectively broken or whether those scattered bits are connected and he's still effectively a complete being isn't said. I'm assuming this is the basis of draconic echoes appearing in different worlds as they mentioned earlier.

In that same video, he pages through the book and you can just catch part of the Chromatic Great Wyrm stat block as he pages through the bestiary. It has Mythic actions (no great surprise there), and it's a general stat block for all chromatic types, just with differing immunities per type (and presumably breath weapons, but we don't see that part). As a side note, I love that they are embracing the Mythic actions concept, and I can't wait to see how they use it for other important and powerful creatures (Mythic action tarrasque, anyone?) as they go through the upcoming monster stat revisions.

I asked Keith Baker about this on his blog site, and he wasn't a fan of the idea. However, WotC would probably make a decision about this without even consulting him. I would like if my headcanon became official canon, but I don't know if it's likely.

Best thing about DnD is that you can pick and choose your own lore.
Even then given he isn't dead, it's completely plausible to have one of thoses 'fragments' be a Greatwyrm Gem that just has the abilities of every type and acting out his will. That and maybe a few other things would be what I'd do. Maybe use Tiamut and Bahamut as inspiration as well.

Shame that the great wyrms seem to be identical templates with just different resistances and damage types. Was hoping that they would be as unique as their ancient versions, if not even more so.

Really interested in seeing how they improve Dragonborn. They've become my favorite race over time, but they've never been real stand-outs when it comes to interesting mechanics. Hopefully this gives me something to play with and possibly loot for other games.

Unfortunately it makes a lot of sense considering how similar the dragon stat blocks are in the MM. The essentially area the same but with different resistances and breathweapons and CR. I real missed opportunity IMO.

Hopefully they at least keep unique movement and lair actions.

If they're too identical I might just homebrew my own versions.

My goodness I've homebrewed dragons multiple times (and posted them here). My current versions are in my 5e Updates: Monstrous Compendium - the dragons are under the "Dastardly Dragons" spoiler. I've got all the Chromatics (9 age groups) and dragon turtles, but haven't gotten to metallics or gem yet.
