I was going to say Morgan Freeman, since -well it's Morgan Freeman and Hollywood may need to put some spin on the telling. Then I thought the Rock and Samuel Jackson would make a great movie since they are in everything.

Disagree. When you consider that the 50th anniversary of D&D is approaching, I think a movie about the origins of D&D can be made with a real, Hollywood budget. Let's make it happen.
You really think people will buy money to go to a theater (or pay $25 for early streaming) to see a biopic about Gary Gygax in enough numbers to warrant a Hollywood budget?

That's....wishful thinking

Maybe FIFA can fund it like their other stellar hit:

They wouldn't even need to change their tagline.

As far as I can tell, this is a pretty jokey, fantasy-based thread. I don't think we really need to devolve into the realism of a movie based on Gygax and Arneson.
This is no fantasy! I was totally serious when I asked this question. I know I am not the first person to think this story would make a great movie if it's done properly. A big budget is not needed. What is needed is a great script.
