Yeah, but Ancient Greeks don't currently suffer the prejudice modern Jews do in today's world. Unless you happen to know some Ancient Greeks? Antisemitism is a real thing in the real world which affects real people. Anti-ancient-greekism isn't.

While I do support your general point, this response is frustrating to me. I'm full Greek, and many of us feel a connection with our past such that there is no heritage distinction between modern and ancient Greeks. Depending on the situation, it can affect "real people". I routinely experience microaggressions by people who do not give the same consideration to Greek culture and heritage given to other cultures because it is deemed "Western". While what you're talking about here - using Greek derived words - isn't at all of the same significance as the use of the term phylactery, it's not as simple as you term it.

As an undergraduate, I took a lot of anthropology courses that were also part of our Middle Eastern Studies program. In one of my courses, we were covering modern Egypt and I was a bit surprised to learn that many Egyptians still have a connection to ancient Egypt. I had assumed because it was so long ago, pre-Islam, and they didn't even share the same language that they wouldn't really care. Boy, was my assumption wrong.

I recall hearing on the news that a lot of Greeks weren't so keen on Disney's Hercules cartoon.
