D&D 5E Revisited Setting News: Its not the 2023 Classic setting, but rather for 2024

The Fizban Subclasses were 13 months, actually, but the Races were closer to the final release. But March is totally plausible for a September or November release, based on prior precedent, even for a Subclass. Race stuff tends to be a quicker turnaround. i think we will see Spelljammer in a few months, and Dragonlance in either September (as the yearly AL Adventure book revisiting the War of the Lance, with Setting elements) or November (if it's a more traditional Setting book).

I'm fairly confident the Spelljammer book has a strong adventure element as well. A while ago, Perkins teased the cover of an upcoming book, and it depicted Boo (the miniature space hamster) and a beholder. Although it could just be a setting book, I am leaning on it being an adventure with Minsc/Boo and something to do with the beholders in Realmspace (or maybe beyond).

Kind of like Ghosts of Saltmarsh/Wild Beyond the Witchlight/Descent into Avernus, having rules for new races and Spelljamming vehicles, in the context of an adventure.

Well, Travelers of the Multiverse dropped on 10/08/2021. So that's five months as of yesterday. I doubt they'd be dropping the book in four weeks without having already announced it. Could be, but it seems tight. Maybe the shipping apocalypse is delaying things a bit more than expected.

Yeah I don't think a book is dropping next month, but they'll probably announce the book pretty soon, soon after Netherdeep releases. I'd say release date is in 3 months or so.

5-14 months is the recent history. I think we'll see the Spelljammer project in about May-June.

Well, every Setting book (except SCAG) had an Adventure Module included. Strixhaven's takes up literally a quarter of the page count (and is 4 Modules that form a coherent Campaign if desired, for that matter), but others were pretty significant and meaty.

I think something like Van Richten's Guide, with the random tables and extensive advice to cover genre tropes for Gonzo Planetary Romance Heavy Metal (or whatever they want to call whatever genre Spelljamemr is), with some Adventure on hand (maybe fairly large, but I think Wild Space justifies a lot of Setting material).

I think the Planescape or Spelljammer thing is just an adventure setting like Strixhaven, emphasis on adventure with more rules component and thus new format. Dragonlance may be the same format.

Awwwwww, yeah, the good stuff.

C. S. Lewis wrote a very good essay on Science Fiction, exploring it's weird history with fantasy and romance, that brings it to mind.

Though honestly, with how they're not name dropping either Planescape or Spelljammer with the Multiverse UA, but straight up saying Dragonlance and Krynn for the newest UA...they're either merging PlaneSpell ScapeJammer or they're going to go with a generic name. Maybe this is the cameo after all. The nautaloids are the cameo. But then that special cover...hmm. Stop teasing us already and just drop the names.

That's a very interesting point actually, the Spelljammer one was called creatures of the multiverse or something like that, not Spelljammer. There is another possible explanation and that is one or more of the creatures, say Astral Elves or Thrikreen, were intended for another book entirely. We know there is another classic setting next year.

That is way, way too much crunch for a primarily adventure book. It likely will focus on Realmspace primarily, which is huge, although with DL coming, whatever they call DL space will likely be covered too.
