I think too many people would raise objections to attempting to quantify yourself in game terms.

Back in the day we played Villains & Vigilantes which as default game operated exactly like this and the usual problems came up. I remember playing in HS and agreeing we'd all take same INT score to avoid fights - but we never fought over who was strongest because well, the strongest would win. So might as well admit it and save yourself a black eye .

The last time we played was in college and one guy were were introducing the game to for the first time was like was writing down his stats and said "I have an 18 Cha."

When the rest of us looked at each other and them back him with doubt about this, he followed up his claim with "I could steal any of your girlfriends if I tried!"

Without a beat passing, one of the other players replied, "You literally just proved you don't have an 18 Charisma, man."

Yeah, nowadays this would be more appropriate. If you used the standard array, for example, and just rated yourself as far as best to worst ability.

I like this approach, but agree some form of this is unlikely. More likely is the version of "you" is transformed by the experience of going to that world to have whatever stats method is used for character creation.

For example, for me with a 15,14,13,12,10,8, my best to worst abilities would be:

INT 15
CHA 14
DEX 13
CON 12
STR 10
WIS 8

I am certainly not saying those are my scores IRL, but the order I would rate them in and the score they would be assigned.

There's no way that I'm asking my tables to stat themselves up as characters in any system. It would be too depressing for my table full of older folks, and too argument inducing for the tables of kids that I run...

(I remember we tried it once when I was in Middle School. Two people nearly got into a fist fight over it and it almost broke up the group.)

Somehow, though, I think the brand new format is going to be something a little different... Like my previous idea of making it half D&D half Board Game or something.

So, in the world of perfect fits: having an actual wargame for the War of the Lance would be a new format. Have the results of the PC's adventures impact the setups for wargame scenarios....

Birthright is better for a wargame, and more possible a strategy videogame, but we would see some teaser.

I already mentioned it elsewhere (assuming you mean the format). I think it is two hardback books, one for the setting, the other for a campaign (AKA adventure path) in a cardboard slip-case.

It's not particularly radical, but it means that book B can require book A. CR: CotN had to repeat some of the content of EGtW.

I can't get all that excited about bringing back old settings as their implementation up to now has been...less than stellar. I am getting tired of the "half setting guide, half adventure, not particularly great at either" books we've seem at this point.

FWIW, the idea was you have to use 15,14,13,12,10,8 and just rate your abilities from best to worst:

So, I am not saying my INT is 15 (it's higher than that. ), I'm saying it's my best ability, so rates the highest score I'm allowed from the standard array: 15.

For you, you rate INT and DEX at 15, but I would think one is "better" to you really (maybe I am wrong???). Your best would be 15, your next 14, so for you it would be either INT 15, DEX 14 or DEX 15, INT 14.

IRL you might rare 10-11 (average) for everything else, but you could probably judge for yourself if your STR is better than your CON, for example? Then one would get a better score than the other, and so forth.

For me, it is definitely INT, CHA, DEX, CON, STR, WIS and I would assign the 15,14,13,12,10,8 to those in order shown. Is my DEX 13? Maybe.... Back in high school and college when I ran track and field, was in better shape, etc. then sure, I could see a DEX 13 then. But 30 years later?? Yeah, a very shaky maybe... LOL!

If we talk about the return of a classic setting then it has to be a long text and too many pages, this means or books or digital files. A videogame? Too busy with Baldur's Gate III, and after this the next will be some DLC/expansion and Planescape 2. Icewyrn Dale's Dark Alliance isn't working too well to try a second online multiplayer arcade. A D& Survival? Here the best option should be Dark Sun setting.

The DM's pupils were too linked to the 80's decade. If there is a revival of the cartoon show, then the main characters should be from the current age, used to the modern technologies, mobiles, tablets, etc.

If I was Hasbro I would worry too much about coproductions with the current Disney, because now this wants to add certain "touchs" and these aren't wellcome by the audience. The controversies may be too dangerous for the kid-friendly franchises.
