ENTER THE MEGADUNGEON WITH THE PATHFINDER ADVENTURE PATH: ABOMINATION VAULTS
May 25, 2022 Redmond, Wash.:
Pathfinder Adventure Path: Abomination Vaults, the first hardcover compilation an Adventure Path for the second edition of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, is now available at game and books stores world-wide and at paizo.com.

Spiteful evil stirs beneath the mysterious lighthouse called Gauntlight. When the lighthouse emits an eerie glow, locals suspect that something sinister threatens the countryside. Brave heroes must explore the ruins around the lighthouse and delve into the dungeon levels beneath it. Hideous monsters, deadly traps, unexpected allies, vengeful ghosts, and more await the heroes who dare to enter the sprawling megadungeon called the Abomination Vaults! The Abomination Vaults Adventure Path is a complete campaign taking heroes from 1st to 11th level.

“I knew this campaign would be a big hit from the start: it has old-fashioned kick-down-the-door dungeon exploration seeded with interesting NPCs, side quests, and tons of roleplaying. The authors—James Jacobs, Vanessa Hoskins, and Stephen Radney-MacFarland—really blew me away by adding exciting action sequences and compelling character personalities to every dungeon level. The Abomination Vaults present more than a place to fight monsters and grab loot (although there’s plenty of that!), but an opportunity for heroes to solve mysteries, negotiate old feuds, rescue innocent people, and much more. And, of course, the villain lurking behind the scenes is a terrifying and powerful enemy. She’s right there on the cover and, wow, does she look angry!” said Ron Lundeen, the development manager responsible for the Abomination Vaults Adventure Path.

The 254-page hardcover Pathfinder Adventure Path: Abomination Vaults an MSRP of $54.99. The Pathfinder Adventure Path: Abomination Vaults Special Edition is a deluxe special edition bound in faux leather with metallic deboss cover elements and a bound-in ribbon bookmark. It has an MSRP of $74.99. The PDF alone is priced at $38.99, only on paizo.com. It is also available for virtual tabletop play on Roll20 and Foundry VTT.

Players of the Pathfinder First Edition Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path still tell tales of how the city of Korvosa is perched on the edge of anarchy—the king was dead, and rumors whispered that his young queen might be responsible! It has been well over a decade since Queen Ileosa was defeated, but the city of Korvosa still fears the evil tyrant’s legacy. And so, when ghosts of the sinister queen manifest on the streets after dark, the need for new heroes arises! Pathfinder Adventure: Shadows at Sundown is an adventure for 11th-level characters written by Landon Winkler. Who will save the city of Korvosa from the dangers that hide in the Shadows at Sundown?

I may grab a lot of Starfinder books and run the ideas in 5E by combining them with details in Mage Hand Press’ Dark Matter setting/options book. I really like Starfinder as a setting/vibe but really didn’t like the crunch when I tried running it multiple times in the past. Just doing Drift Crisis stuff in that context is exciting for me.
I ran a really successful Starfinder game years ago. The crunch isn't bad, certainly less onerous than PF1. I just forgot how much I liked that game after moving on and the prospect of a Big Summer Blockbuster has me thinking about it again.

The crunch was bad for us, but I'm glad you've been able to enjoy it and are looking forward to the new releases!

The Drift Crisis hardcover is a pretty interesting look at how the situation described affects pretty much every location that has been described in a previous Starfinder setting book, with tons of adventure outlines. It also offers a number of different theories as to how it starts and how it will end (as well as the canonical version, which will play out in two forthcoming Adventure Paths) and what will happen in the aftermath. My biggest complaint is that the cover is, well, very generic.

Particularly fascinating is the section on how to merge the situation with the majority of the published Starfinder Adventure Paths to date!

I am honestly a bit confused about Drift Crisis.
From the description it sounds like a "realms shaking event", but from the things I heard it is not based on the canon result and it also does not seem to be a adventure in itself (although an AP about it is in the works).
So I wonder what the point of that book even is.

Not everyone plays every AP. The point of the book is to present the Crisis in a way that everyone can incorporate it, whether they are running the specific Drift Crisis AP, an older AP, or homebrewing.

So what does the Crisis actually change? From what I heard not much (But I might be wrong. There are apparently now things which would technically fundamentally violate the way the drift is supposed to work, but Paizo was never really consistent with stuff like this)
And having a crisis which neither changes the status quo nor serves as the the reason for an adventure seems kinda superfluous to me.

I'm not sure, but I do think we should probably not put unblocked spoilers in the discussion.

You don't read comics, do you?
A big summer event that promises to change the status quo forever, then doesn't, is a tradition going back decades. I'm frankly surprised it took this long for Paizo to get in on it, given that they have a perfect venue for it in RPGs.

I dunno, the Drift going away forever is an actual possibility. It was always kind of redundant with the Astral Plane, so I can see it being written out of the canon, especially if this is a prelude for an edition change.

I have not been closely following Paizo. Do people actually think there is a SF2 coming?
