D&D 5E D&D pateau-ing?

my money is on trying to do both and alienating both..

as I gaze into my crystal ball (the one that hasn't hit lotto yet) I divine they will try to change enough to 'fix' the game for modern sensibilities and enough that buying the new book is needed enough so they will sell them. However I bet they will try to keep so much the same to pay lip service to "it's all the same system" that people who WANT systematic improvements and changes will find the changes half measures at best.


Ex: I bet they rewrite every race to be the new way but at least 2-3 of them will end up different enough that you can't just say "oh this is just tasha updates" and the same with classes.

It worked in 2014.

2014 was a huge change... 5e isn't even recognizable as a growth out of 4e. It is much more a throw back to 3e.

I think people not understanding the infinite growth isn't a thing that can happen is responsible for us acting shocked or concerned if there's even actually a market plateau at all.

yeah I get a good laugh at the idea of "You need to grow your business" mentality...

like if you make $10 profit this year and $10 profit next year that is seen as a failur to grow... now imagine x a million (literally $10,000,000 profit 2 years in a row seen as a fail) and you ave what has been drilled into some people heads.

Heck if I made any profit at all (lets say $500) and made slightling less profit but still profit the next year (lets say $450) it is still profit

Bonus points here where the 'proofs' are Google trends and Amazon reviews for a rules reprint.

Or Amazon reviews in general. I have a bad review on one of my books from a lady who left the review, then emailed me immediately saying she'd remove it if I paid her$400 for editing services. I told Amazon. Amazon does not care. Also someone who one-starred me because they she doesn't think the title is accurate (ie a human who killed a god powered by worshippers through 'starvation' is not a 'monster' because he's human).
