Any Way to Block *Threads*?

So here's something that has come up for me in the past month: while I am averse to blocking members (I have no quarrel with those who do, mind you), one thing I have found myself wishing I could do is block from view whole threads that have veered into pedantry and acrimony (el-remmen really chose the right term for that: "pedantry"). Is there any way of doing that?

I try. Oh, man, do I try. The problem I get into is I typically choose which threads to read through by going through the whole list of those with new posts and click those I'm watching and those in which I've engaged. Well, sometimes it's a thread in which I've engaged that has gone all nasty, so I click before realizing, "Oh, right--this is that thread..."

Guess I'll just have to do my initial scrolling more carefully.

I've never seen a forum software that allowed this. I sure would like this feature, as I also browse by looking at the list of all updated threads.
