Not that I've noticed.

I suspect this is probably meant to be Gracklstugh, but it might be a drow city instead (or some place like Mantol Derith):

It's for sure Gracklstugh, it has the Square Buildings and all the forges and flames.

Some fun attention to detail here. The female Red Wizard in the movie has a similar forehead tattoo to a female Red Wizard from Dead in Thay.

Red Wizard Tattoos are supposed to be based on the school of magic you specialize in. These two are necromancy specialized.

But for plot hints. I am pretty sure this Red Wizard Lady is the mage that hired the party.

Seems to hit the tone of A Knight's Tale, with that backing track to the trailer, but that could be just trailer thing (I really hope it isn't).
I think the music for the trailer was "Whole Lotta love" by Led Zepplin. So it's probably a placeholder. A "Metal" soundtrack would seem appropriate though.

Let's be honest here. There couldn't possibly be a better time for a D&D movie to hit the theaters. The stars and the moons have all aligned perfectly here. Massive growth in D&D, huge interest all over the place, more people playing than ever before.

So long as this movie isn't crap, we're going to see a pretty solid hit on our hands and quite likely a series.
Yeah. The new season of Stranger Things recently got its final episodes released, so if people are curious about D&D after watching Stranger Things, seeing that there's a D&D movie coming out will probably help boost it, too.

I'm actually getting pretty excited for this movie and what it might mean for the hobby if it succeeds. If it gets a ton of people to watch it that know nothing about D&D, and they like it and want more, they'll probably at least take a look at the hobby. This could be a really big deal for the game. WotC would be fools to not do their best to capitalize off of it when the movie comes out (at least a D&D Beyond exclusive article about it, probably a Starter Set similar to the Stranger Things one, maybe even a whole adventure path). And from the interview with Chris Perkins about how long they've been planning this and how it's already influenced products that were published two years ago . . . they certainly don't look like fools.

Correct. Which gives it that Thor: Ragnarok vibe.

Ny suspicion is it's an ironic comment - for much of the movie Page's character isn't on their side, and is hunting the "thieves".
Maybe!

Yes, I think you are right. That looks like the same actress (Daisy Head?) and the headdress conveniently covers the bald head and forehead tattoos and such.

Y'know, just spitballing here, but, this might explain some of the new direction that WotC seems to be taking. With the combination of the re-release 5e books, and a new movie coming out, they might be expecting a fair rush of new players. Not a totally unreasonable expectation, hopefully.

So, it would make sense to do stuff like, say, simplifying stat blocks. After all a streamlined stat-block is a lot easier to run for a new DM who isn't some massive D&D nerd who's been playing for decades. (not me, of course, I would never talk about myself. :)) Or the new settings like Radiant Citadel or now Spelljammer. Stuff that isn't really tied into earlier D&D as much. While lots of us know about Spelljammer, or have heard of it, there's so little actual canon there, and so few people who actually care about the canon, that they have the freedom to actually do whatever they want in the setting.

Like I said earlier, there does rather seem to be a perfect storm coming all together in the next year or so.

The black dragon's acid was very underwhelming. I never realized it woukd look like it was puking! Lol
In the art, acid breath is usually shown as a jet of green slime.

But most real world acids are clear liquids, as shown in the movie.

I've heard that the special effects are not all "done"
If they were done, they could release it next week. That's why the release date is next year.

If you look at the trailers to Jurassic World, say, the CGI changes significantly from one trailer to the next to the final film.
