Spelljammer Dark Sun confirmed? Or, the mysterious case of the dissappearing Spelljammer article...

One for next year, per Winninger. My bet there is on Planescape, but time will tell.
Absolutely could be. Seems like a lot of overlap though. What with Radiant Citadel and Spelljammer already. If the sales numbers Ben Riggs is dropping are accurate, you'd think WotC would do something with more sales, not fewer. But who knows how the old sales numbers translate to modern fans' buying habits, if they do at all.

I'm really hoping for Dark Sun, but yeah, could be any of them.

That the first full name drop
That's slightly off. It's been name dropped 2-3 times before in 5E. If I remember, it's mentioned in the DMG, Tasha's, and somewhere else.

ETA: It's mentioned five times in the DMG. In Tasha's it's not named, rather depicted in a piece of art.

I kinda hope they dont go for Planescape next. 3 releases about plane hopping stuff is a little much since I prefer some more down-to-earth (literally) D&D.

At least Dragonlance isnt Astral adventuring, but I miss more basic adventure stuff like the first published adventures or Saltmarsh.

Just my opinion, tho :p
Unless something has changed, there are two entirely new, non-MtG settings in the pipeline for 2023 in addition to the classic setting (potentially Planescape) and everything else (adventures and other supplements) that round out the typical annual release list, so I feel there's still plenty of room for some "down-to-earth" D&D in the schedule, while still giving us plane-hopping junkies our fix.

We know the old sales numbers have zero relationship to the modern game because multiple books have appeared in the best sellers list, the PHB regularly reappears in the top ten, and the game continues to grow its largest fanbase ever.

That they don't match is obvious, but we don't know if there's zero relationship. We don't know the new sales numbers. We don't actually know the old sales numbers either, we just have one person who's claiming to know and report them. But I'd be surprised if there was no correlation at all. Like a really popular setting from back-in-the-day is quite likely to also be really popular now. Conversely, a really unpopular setting from back then is quite likely to also be unpopular now. Not guaranteed, obviously, as the fanbase is orders of magnitude larger, but I'm willing to be there is some correlation. If nothing else, nostalgia sales alone should make old popular settings popular now if released.

"Merging Air Envelopes
So, you've just left your lovely clean-aired planet, and you think you're safe with your fresh air envelope on a relatively short journey to another world. Think again. If a bigger ship comes along with a not-so-fresh air envelope and merges with your ship's air envelope, you will take on the atmosphere of said ship.

This can cause quite a dire situation when you merge with the depleted atmosphere of a clockwork horror-crewed ship that tries to strip your vessel of parts. But, don't worry, after you're finished fighting off the waves of killer robots, you can refresh your air envelope at any nearby planet (assuming you don't suffocate first)."

That's a...bit more punishing than I'd expect from WotC. There's going to be a lot of people needing to look up the rules for suffocation soon, I'd imagine.
I don't know. It seems that the vast majority of the time you will be hours to days away from a planet, so I don't need rules to announce that you can't hold your breath for that long. :p
The way they're dealing with gravity planes is a bit wild, too. The ship with more hit points inflicts its gravity on the ship with fewer hit points. That makes sense from a "bigger ships will have more hit points" perspective, but knocking a big ship's hp down then colliding to force your gravity plane on them seems like it shouldn't work as it's too good of a tactic.
I'll probably go with max hit points, rather than current hit points. That way size is generally going to be what matters.

Winninger went out of his way on Twitter to say that the Radiant Citadel isn't a replacement for Sigil, and in addition to the recent UA with direct Planescape references there are a bunch scattered throughout Monsters of the Multiverse. If anything, all the multiverse hustle and bustle might make a Planescape product more likely, to tie in the unified cosmology.

I would propose for Dark sun that it would be a very, very good fit for a follow-up to what they are doing with Dragonlance: a big Adventure with a Setting section, that ties into a boxed battle game to tie in to the campaign. Dark Sun was, primarily, a Battle System showpiece after all.

Ah, sorry, I meant the first explicit named rope in relation to the Spelljammer product, though we had Sussex out a cameo was likely for the reasons outlined previously.
