Sorry, should have had a smiley in there: I think this is awesome. I have some original 2E material secondhand, and...this is a bit more serious than the 2E goofiness.
I DMed a SJ campaign in the 90s and I know the setting always had weird and goofy stuff but from what I remember it was just kind of there, you could use it or ignore it. This time around it seems like (at least with the previews) theyre showcasing this aspect more. But if clownspace is only 2-3 pages I can live with that. I'll reserve judgement until it comes out in a few weeks.

When I first saw this article on clowns in space, I immediately thought of the Juggler who lead the thieves guild on the Rock of Bral and was disappointed they didnt tie these into that and made it its own sphere.

Pretty sure Clownspace will be a paragraph in the space Clown entry at most.

All they’ve done so far is highlight a list of weird-ish races (though not the Neogi yet), I’m sure the book has more than the geeks in marketing have showcased

I do think showcasing the Rock of Bral and other Space Lairs would have been a better promotion then this one note race

I agree. There's a lot a 5e Spelljammer setting could offer. I hope there's more to it than the abstract craziness they've showed so far.

The Spelljammer beastary they released earlier has more serious monsters in it. They’re just showing off the more unique races to garner attention. The more standard races will be there too.

And I very much doubt Neogi - who are generally slavers (with Umber Hulk bodyguards) are likely to be player races any time soon.
