Some time ago Dragonlance was the most sold saga fantasy after Tolkien's work.
This here tells me that they should show more respect, but I get it's just a brand to them and all they want is the name.

Kiefer Sutherland as Raistlin was the only thing that movie did right.D&D is FR-centric, but Dragonlance has got a great potential as multimedia franchise. A cartoon movie based in the book of Dragonlance was produced, and it was a critical fail. Hasbro can't repeat the same mistake again. To learn to walk before you have to learn to crawl.

Hasbro is dyings to can sell actions figures of the heroes of the lance, but they have to learn how to produce a true blockbuster. Here not even the main movie studios haven't found it the secret, and even if they had, the audience would change because always the same style becomes boring.
Some time ago Dragonlance was the most sold saga fantasy after Tolkien's work. Why a second opportunity? Because also Transformers was also a relatively dead franchise until the action-live movie was broadcasted.
My doubts is if a new Dragonlance animated serie will be broadcasted in Netflix or Paramount+. Sometimes I have wondered about how would be characters if these were designed by Disney.
This is true, but it's been decades since Dragonlance was even getting the highest sales numbers of D&D novels. Drizzt overtook it a long, long time ago. I've got a soft spot for Dragonlance, but it isn't the 1980s any more. If WotC/Hasbro/anyone thought Dragonlance was a modern media juggernaut, we'd be discussing how Chris Pyne looked with a beard in the role of Tanis, rather than looking forward to a D&D movie set in FR.Some time ago Dragonlance was the most sold saga fantasy after Tolkien's work.
If Dragonlance was seen as important to WotC, let along Hasbro, they would have released it a long time ago.
They are appealing to people who will buy any pretty product with the right name on it.
The D&D movie is being released on March 3, 2023, not during the holiday season.Do not equate importance with timing.
The release of the Dragonlance material within a couple of days of the D&D movie release in the start of the holiday season is probably not coincidental.
Don’t think it makes sense to restrict Sorcerers. Sorcerers are even getting the new lunar sorcery subclassI'll definitely be enforcing any alignment restrictions for the magical orders. I think I'll also be restricting the classes, going to keep it wizardry only but might create some similar background feats for sorcerers based on the old saga rules and backgrounds. If they do change sorcerer to draw upon different spell lists, then that can easily cover mystics as well.
I'm probably not going to be using the lunar subclass either. I like the separation of wizardry and sorcery in the setting and so I will aim to keep it.Don’t think it makes sense to restrict Sorcerers. Sorcerers are even getting the new lunar sorcery subclass
The same way they explain Sorcerers and Warlocks being around since forever. They aren't.I'm curious how tieflings will be explained in the setting. All the evil outsiders come from the Abyss, which is pretty much sealed off from Krynn outside of a few portals (which are closely guarded by the Order of High Sorcery and nearly impossible to open) and a rift under the ruined Temple of Istar. And that was kept under wraps so Takhisis could build up her army in secret.
