D&D 5E Being strong and skilled is a magic of its own or, how I learned to stop worrying and love anime fightin' magic

Back to my question from a few posts up. What percent of games get past level 10 or 12?

If a sizable percent, then it would be a catastrophe to cut the high level things!!!

If not many, and even a lot of those who do go higher find it a slog, then it isn't as big of a loss to axe it from the core book. (And those who wanted it might be better served in a mythic expansion anyway).
If it came out at the same time as the core books and gave us more and better options for characters, high level monsters, fun and powerful magic items, etc., I'd be all for it being in another book.

What percent of games stop by level 10 or 12?

If a huge percent, then we aren't taking much away, and can use the saved space to put a lot more classes, archetypes, and races in the book. (Saved pages on spells enough for a Warlord, Gish, and Psion?).
Anything over 10 is pretty much aspirational for most groups.

Also, can we all appreciate that Arnold himself in his prime was more capable than a current D&D fighter at doing cool stunts and being physically strong?
Why would I appreciate something that's objectively false?

Arnold couldn't shrug off a spell because he's indomitable. Arnold couldn't leap 26 feet without trying, farther with a roll. Arnold couldn't restore hit points to himself due to being a survivor. Arnold couldn't use any of the battle master maneuvers. Arnold can't action surge.

The irony here is that when body buildiers look their strongest they're often at their weakest. They go into near starvation diets to eliminate as much subcutaneous fat as possible and dehydrate themselves to help make their veins pop to get that appearance.
And yet the excuse of preventing D&D Martial classes from doing those same things... is realism.
What real life things are you saying people are arguing against?

You may want to try a different game then.
Given that D&D is it's own thing... it kind of feels like anyone who doesn't like D&D fantasy might be served best by a different game :-)

If getting past level 10 or 12.is only aspirational for most groups, and yet they keep playing 1 to 12 over and over, maybe D&D does a good job at the lower (or at least not to high) fantasy in their opinions?

So the highest-rated fighter is a guy whose crowning achievement... Was managing to land 7 hits on the boss before getting killed?

No wonder martials can't have nice things in this game.

Not his fault he was a character in a rail-road game where the DM had already decided the best the PCs could do was to finally get through and beg the gods to come save them

If he'd been a PC in the follow up campaign he and the party he brought would have wiped the floor with the boss.
