I don't understand why the Sun Soul is getting so much support ... sure it's an "improvement" over the 4 element monk, but it still remains underwhelming...

I was gonna ask the same about Drunken Master.

Sun Soul has gotten 5 upvotes in the last 24 hours, compared to 14 upvotes for the Drunken Master. I must be missing something, because both of these look very underwhelming to me.

They have a lot of flavor. The mechanical execution however leaves much to be desired.

Mind you, the Kensei also has some mechanical issues but the overall package works better IMO (and I speak from experience - I've played a Kensei and GMed a Drunken Master)

I'm just trying to see if we can get another non-PHB option on the winning list while down voting the basic Open Hand.
