D&D General Has anyone created a homebrewed version of World of Warcraft's Drachthyr race for 5e D&D?

I mean, they're doable, if you're willing to make a slightly OP race. I would say just take Dragonborn, re-describe them, and add both 60ft flight speed to them and the ability to Alter Self but only into a specific humanoid form (which can be changed by a ritual, but is not trivial to change).
It's not full-time flight, though. So it's not flight speed, but one of these limited use abilities like several existing races have.

I was under the extremely solid impression that in the Dragonflight zones they had full-time flight at a lower speed than normal Dragonriding.

Also wow I didn't realize the pre-patch was today, I guess I should have a look.

Not unless they've changed it recently. When I was in the alpha/beta, you got the Soar ability for your dracthyr every X minutes (I want to say it was two) and if you could keep it going for that time, you were all set, but it's mostly a powered glide, especially for newbies, so you will almost inevitably have to land at some point. It was great for getting back to the dracthyr quest hub, but there was a lot of time on foot for everyone.

That said, it feels amazing. Once they're playable in mid-November for folks who've pre-ordered, plan to set aside a lot of time to race around Stormwind or Orgrimmar on your dracthyr.

Yea, leveling up alts is kind of my "zone out and play Solitare" activity, and I've been maintaining a max-level for every class since Legion made that worthwhile.
I did that in Legion too, and was mildly annoyed that all I got for it was a Feat of Strength. Every class weapon and every Legion class mount feels like it merited a cool title, at least.

But then, the Feat of Strength title in Shadowlands is "Veilstrider" which is meh.
