It's an American thing probably. Here some things upsetting them are reversed.

Eg imperialism wiped out slavery. Note not justifying imperialism or slavery it's a lot greyer is main point.

But yeah sticking swords in slavers won't upset to many here if you're playing a game where you kill sentients.
We also promise to stick swords in all the imperialists.

Are they? It seems like a lot of people are concerned that other people, not in evidence, will be concerned.

"We can't have a revamped Slavers adventure, because there's slavery!"

"Well, yes, they're the bad guys. We will stick swords in those slavers."

"Yes, but we can't have Dark Sun back, because there's slavery in that!"

"We also promise to stick swords in those slavers as well."

"Well, it might be offensive!"

"What, the sticking the swords into slavers part? Who's going to be offended by that?"

"... the slavers?"

"Slavery is commonplace on Athas and, though it is not race-based, some TTRPG players feel that such an abhorrent practice has no place in the hobby." -comicbook.com

Again, it's someone saying that other people, somewhere, are probably offended by it.

Slavery may be overused but much like Nazis it's clearly evil to most reasonable people.

And Nazism doesn't make much sense in a fantasy game.

So it's slavery wins.

Conflict makes for good stories hence why it's used.
Urg.

Again, this is just like my writing forum.

"Conflict is the core of story, so let's immediately jump to the worst possible things to shove in people's faces!"

Scale of stakes! Audience! Self control! Treating serious subjects with a modicum of care! Why is this a language no longer spoken by writers?!
